my hood broke!!!!!!!!

i have rolled my tractor a couple times now, enough to break my craftsman lt1000 hood, which the grill is plastic. if i get a new hood, i need to re-enforce it (how?), what do i need to do to it? and if i can get a fully metal hood, can anyone tell me about a hood with the same mounts so no modification has to be done to it?

I dont think any Craftsmans share hood mounts.

Older craftsmans share the same mounts ( 80's) - not sure on newer ones - any pics of it?

I mounted a 91 MTD hood on my 94 murray a few years back - took a lil tweeking but fit pretty decent:


I used a set of hood hinges off the MTD and bolted them to the murray hinges - the MTD hood hinges at the bottom of the grille.

Lil bit of fab work and you can make anything work.


You can run metal tubing or angle under the hood to make a bracing setup - if the bracing is made in 'one piece' then the hood can just be bolted to it, so it swivels open..
