| Im looking at getting one of my fathers friends 1989-1991 Ford F250 with a 7.3L Powerstroke and a Plow mount with a plow. Theres alot of things that aren't good on it and some good things about it.
Good: -Has a Diesel -3/4 tonne truck -nice tires(Good year Wrangler Duratrax) -Still runs
Bad -Floor is most likely gone -Rockers are gone -Paint is really faded -probably needs alot for a safety -Plow mount is outdated and is not a legal quick connect style -Its been used as a plow truck so its been abused -Its the Ugly bodystyle(I don't really care but its not my favourite style from Ford) -And I guess this would be just me but its a Powerstroke and a Ford:P
Whats your guy's thoughts on it, I dont have any pictures of it but it might have a lift or something on it(max 2") because it sits fairly high but he wants around $2,000 with the plow. He says he would start it every other week but would never move it and hes been battling cancer for the past 2 years and he is in to rough of shape this year to be able to plow with it. I was thinking of offering alot lower because its so rough. Anyone know any bad things about the old Fords like these.

| Whats the mileage, is it a turbo?
When i was still in the oilfield business, We had F250 powerstrokes with over 500,00 miles on them.
Our ttrucks were kept clean and serviced regularly.
We gave up on the gm and Dodge options. Tney couldn't cut it.

| My Dad has a 99 Ford f-350 with a 7.3 and it gets around 13 to 15 in town and on the freeway. and it has three hundred, sixty thousand + miles on it running strong. I would pull the motor out with the computer/ wireing harness and scrap the body and try to do a transplant into another Truck or a Ford Bronco in doing so you will get better fuel economy like 15 to 20 MPG. | |

| Thanks for your input guys, Chopperhed yeah its Turbo but I dont know the mileage, the guy who owns it bought it new and only used it for plowing so it probably hasn't really been broken in yet(probably 200k-250k) I know my brothers old Cummins had 800,000k on it but it was on its second engine, the original one blew at 550,000k probably in the middle of a mud hole wide open.
I think pulling the Motor would be cool and put it in a bronco(would probably be alot better then trying to fix everything thats ugly on the F250) but I would want to probably put the suspension from the F250 in the bronco then because the Powerstroke is heavy and I think its manual injection because its so old but then its easyer to turn up:D
Id prefer a Cummins motor in it but a Powerstroke is still better then a Duramax in my opinion. I am also thinking of a 1998 Jeep Cherokee 6l 4.0L Manual 2dr 4x4 but its already been abused since his main pictures are down a trail.

| If it's an 89 to 91, it ain't no powerstroke. It's the 7.3L IDI, the predecessor to what's in my truck, which is the 6.9L diesel. Powerstroke didn't come until 94 1/2. You most likely have either have one with a aftermarket turbo, or possibly one equipped with a turbo from the factory. Mostly, these ole IDIs were Naturally Aspirated, meaning, they were turbo-less, like mine. The main difference between the powerstroke and the 7.3L IDI is, aside from the lack of a turbo on some of them, powerstokes are Direct Injection(DI) where as the 7.3L IDI is Indirect Injection(IDI). Also the IDI is completely mechanical, where as the powerstroke is uses a PCM(computer) to control the injection system. Either way, they are great trucks. Mine is an 86 diesel and it is flawless. | |

| So the body is junk, you aren't a big fan of the style, the truck needs a lot of work , and you don't know if the engine had the same care as the body. I would guess if it has been a plow truck its whole life, the transmission is questionable and the axles may need to checked out. If you want it, get it. I myself would pass, for what it would take to fix it up, you could find a better truck to start with. | |

| I know its a Turbo diesel, so its probably aftermarket, hes that kind of guy, into doing things like that. I know it hasn't been a plow truck its entire lift, he used to daily drive it until 2004 then he parked it for a while and got a plow for a good deal then used it as a plow truck since then. When he parked it He never undercoated/Krowned it so that's why the body is rough. I'm thinking of skipping on the truck, I want either a 1 tonne or larger or a 1/4 tonne(like an S10 or Ranger). | |
