Finally getting back at it again, this time round ima do a straightforward race mower. it's an old project I started when I was younger and now I'm too big to fit in the old racer. Plans for the project go as such, new tube frame, wider & shielded rear fenders, live rear axle, Peerless 700 transmission, hopped to the moon Intek V-twin model 40, bumpers, go-kart style steering, and possibly a wheelie bar for drag racing. My apprenticeship has been going well and have been able to have a MUCH more stable cash flow, so hopefully updates will be more frequent.

I only have one concern. When you say tube frame. Do you have an example? Pic of your idea? Just making sure it isn't going to be a racing go-kart with tractor body parts.

Something like this but with the older craftsman frames that were like 3in thick at the front and 8-10 in the back, past the dash, obviously underneath the original frame. I'm trying to build it to uslmra rules, just for convenience.

Got the frame taken apart and cut in half for lengthening, had an image of it before hand but it got corrupted , but now im preparing to widen it about 2 in
Been a while, kinda forgot to post some updates in-between, but here is what I got going so far, welded the 3 pieces of frame back together, got the subframe all fitted and welded in, goal is to prevent as much frame flex as I can, also relized after fitting everything up my front axle is 9in forward of where it should be... and currently working on starting the rear fenders, don't have any pictures at the moment of that but I'll get some posted tomorrow hopefully.
had to take a small break from the project, work had me tied up for the month, but, got the steering parts in yesterday and am now in the process of mocking steering up.
That is an interesting approach to the steering. Personally, I prefer my rigs to turn the same way as the steering wheel, but maybe the steering wheel going opposite ways has some benefits I haven’t thought of yet

Ya know I'm just realizing that, it was a complete oversight on that end... Mmm I can already feel my headache.
Got the motor tore apart, and waiting on rest of the new shiny parts to come in, and got the tires in yesterday hubs are coming in tomorrow so soon I'll have a full rolling chassis.

Don’t worry, you’re not the first guy to do that one. Hence why I was looking that close
Got a cam and valve springs for it too? Rocker upgrade?

I've got dual coil valve springs with billet keepers, the original camshaft was one of those pressed lobe camshafts and it was bent like none other so I purchased a cast one that is way more rugged I still need to send it off to get ground, arc flywheel, coils, high torque starter, still debating ratio rockers (considering there 300 all by themselves off of ec carburetors), also still considering chromoly push rods over steel. More than likely I will end up buying them, just a factor of when I have that extra money.
Been busy with this one, racked up some overtime to help pay for the new shiny parts, finally cutout my dash, have yet to fix my mistake on the steering, but it's looking to be engine build first, also have all the stuff for the transmission to build it out, also have yet to do that.
