I picked up an MTD clone last weekend. Advertised for spares - and the right price. The intention is to use it to run around the trails over here. It's badged up as a Dakota (some French company no one knows anything about) but has a look of a late 80's Lawnflite. The sticker codes don't seem to relate to anything on the internet. I need new belts for it and without an I.D I'm just guessing.  Any thoughts ?The never ending I.D questions Img_2210

Welcome to the ATLTF!

As owner of 2 MTD tunnel chassis' with VariDrive similar to this I can confidently say that the factory belts are actually a touch wider than 5/8", more like 11/16" but I've heard that you can make 5/8" belts work decently.

The belts for mine are 754-0280/954-0280 & 754-0281/954-0281, they're pretty specific for the VariDrive to operate properly that's for sure!

I hope this helps.
