| Hi all! Im a pretty active member on Red Square and one of the members turned me onto this site after seeing pics of my trail bomber. It's a 1964 Wheel Horse 654, pulley swapped for GPS confirmed 28mph, ATV tires, adjustable wheelie bar, and powered by a 11hp OHV clone thats been ported, milled for 11:1, piped and jetted, along with axle key mods to keep from exploding the early hubs. After feeling guilty about hammering a somewhat desirable early Horse, I sold it and am just beginning on a less desirable B100, with a heavier duty 8 pinion, 1 1/8 axle locked 8 speed. Looking forward to spending some time here! | |

| Mocksville here. You? Anyone around here actually get together and ride? Yes it ran strong. After the GPS speed run, I went to a bigger trans pulley and slowed it down to 17-18mph. That was still plenty on the trails. How fast (or slow) do you guys normally set them up to run? | |

| Welcome to the forum! I've always wanted a Wheel Horse.
It seems that most of us will set our off road builds at 25 or so at fastest. Probably because that's what is practical and anywhere faster would want to be lowered and have some other improvements to really be safe. Of course it's all personal preference, you can go as fast or as slow as you see fit.

| Welcome! My tractor tops at 27 with the Governor, but I tend to stay closer to 10 down the trails and less than 5 while doing technical hill climbs. Just beats ya a lot less to go slower and more relaxed | |

| Tri-county area. About 3 and a half hours from you.
My mower runs roughly 20MPH I think. Haven't done an actual speed test yet though.

| welcome ! i belive my top speed was 24 but not needed for trail riding, with no suspension it's like riding a bucking bronco. and my 53 year old back can't handle that lol. nice to have the high wheel speed for the mud though. | |
