See this is what we meant all those times we told you how nice it was to have a welder!!!!!
Hahaha, looks pretty neat though! Fabbing up garden tractor implements is one of my favorite things to do. Do you think you could get some better pictures of the fab work? It looks like you made that center link from scratch!

Haha, yes I did, I'll have to get some pictures of it later.

You got an amazing deal, however you definitely need a stack... The 5" stack sounded great on mine. Now I have a 6" stack. LOL
Thanks! Haha, sweet! I'm not sure If I'm going to go that far, we'll see, hahaha.

Been meaning to update. She busted the gas tank mount again, I welded it back up again. It definitely has room to wiggle back and forth, which is probably what causes the vibration cracks. I've been told that no 990s came with that gas tank, and that it's the tank from like an 8 horse Briggs flathead. It only has one mounting point, the factory one had 4. I'm assuming that it started leaking or something, and they replaced it with this one. I may be able to weld up some supports for it that keep it from vibrating.
Started running non-ethanol in it. She seems to like it!
On the list of things to do:
Fab up new dash (old one is plastic and falling apart) Fix the electric start New tires all around Fluid change Front weight bracket?
I've been super busy with life and getting ready for deer season, some family members are having some serious health issues, don't really want to elaborate. I'm not sure when I will be able to get to work on that list, I've been relieving stress by hunting lately. I'll update you when I get there, but for now, she's still around and kicking!

Vibration cracking things can be a pain. It's tough to figure out sometimes. I had an intake brace on my simplicity for awhile but I think it was actually making things worse because the engine was moving more than where the brace was attached. I've left it off and so far it seems to be working ok. Had gasket issues and bolts loosening before that. In your case some extra bracing might be a help though. The MTD has some nice patina on it. Hang in there with things!
perhaps thier tank was like mine, i originally went to a 1 gallon tank because of the bad seal, witch i JBwleded up. now wating for the ebay seals to come. when i had a 1 gallon tank i zip tied it on the rear gas tank mounts, witch is practically under the dashboard.
if i were you i would find a bunch of old computer cases and weld up a custom gas tank. could drill a small hole in the bottom for the seal, a weld the top of an old pusher mower tank to a hole you cut out the top for filling. i know its a project i could knock out in a weekend and i would imagen you could to. thogh if i were doing it, i would take the old Briggs push mower gas tank and just cut the bottom of it out, so i have alittle more room for gas at the top.
i also dont know what your scrap metal is like. for me the only part that would be hard is getting straight cuts with angle grinder and DRILLING. god i hate drilling.

So, yesterday I got a wild hair and started tearing it apart for the resto!
I'm at least painting it and putting new tires all the way around, new seals, hoses, hydraulic filter, hydraulic oil, etc. I'm considering rebuilding the engine. It doesn't need it, but I'm taking it apart to paint it, so I'm considering rebuilding it. I think I'll just still with honing the cylinder and putting it back together with the old rings and new gaskets. What do ya'll think? It runs perfectly and doesn't smoke one bit.

So a guy I know through business had another 990 that had been sitting under a tarp for the last 2 years. Every time I saw him I told him to sell it to me and he wouldn't. Well yesterday, he texted me and told me to come get it for $300. Probably overpaid for it but oh well. I'm happy and that's all that matters. Don't know if it runs, haven't tried yet. I'm going to try to find out today!

So time got away from me, and the tractor pull is in two weeks.
Yesterday I only had time to put new front tires on her because it won't stop raining.
Yes I stole them off my John Deere but I'm on a tight schedule okay?
My other 990 is looking kind of sad. But the plan is to rob the tires and rims off that one and turn the yellow one into a dually, and put the 75 pound wheel weights on each side. I'm going to use an oscillating multi tool to cut the turfs into more of a "pulling" tread. I thought about getting industrials, but all 4 would be over $400. I thought about just replacing 2 tires, but I think 4 cut turfs are better than 2 industrials. What do you think?
And I'm going to rob the suitcase weights off my Mitsubishi for a weekend. 2 on the front, 3 on the back.
I'm thinking I should have decent luck pulling with this thing. Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Welp shiet went down last night, and today depressed me got lost in my barn for a few hours and here's what ended up happening.
It also doesn't fit out the door anymore so that's a problem. I'm using a oscillating multi tool to cut the tires, I'm cutting them like pro pulling tires do. They're going to grip great.
I sent those pictures to a few people and their response was Hey are you ok? Lol
I totally didn't spend an hour ripping this video off YouTube just to reply:

LOL, love that show. Feel your pain on the depression part, was diagnosed with GAD several years ago.
Zero idea why, but from the back that looks like a gigantic segway for some reason, idk. She's looking good.
Edit: Is that the key switch hanging down from the side in that last pic?
Yea when I got it the wiring was in bits and right now it's only pull start. I'm not sure if I'm going to get a chance to wire it up in time for the tractor pull.
