| Yeah you may need to adjust the governor for the new carb probably. I can't search it out now at work, but there are some good youtube resources. I like "Taryl Fixes All". I know he has covered governor's in several videos. Taryl Fixes All | |

| Yeah I'll have to look at some vids. Whenever I get some free time and two quarts of oil I'll try it. One thing's for sure though, if it is the problem, it sure does need a lot of adjusting. | |

| Well, turns out it was just catching on something. I just mowed the yard. BUT, it still starves on hills... It has a new carb, new coil, no electric float, new gas lines/filter/shut off/tank/cap, it's beyond me now. Oh, and it sputters too now. Either way I'm telling the people to come get it tomorrow since they don't have big hills. Any last moment suggestions? | |

| Hydro... I forget? If so, may be the hydro pulling the engine down.
Gravity feed? Too long fuel line? If gravity, you have a red filter and not the white... unless you got a clear one nevermind.

| Yep, Craps-mans hydro actually. It does put a heck of a load on that little Kohler...
Gravity fed, clear filter. Maybe it is the way I have the line routed.

| Another question. If there is no seat safety in the machine, and you let the clutch out, it should kill the motor right? That is, with both relays in assume... I think I had a bad one, might be the cause of all the electrical issues.... | |

| My gosh! All the safeties are wired in, the relays are good, and yet the seat safety works backward even AFTER I replaced it with one I know is good. You get off the machine and everything works mint (except running like crap), get on it with the clutch out or blades on, kills it. Also rerouted the fuel lines, no change, that is, if not worse. I'm about to go throw the old carb back on and see what happens... I mean, it was a heck of a lot better with that one. Kohler running horribleOh, we're still waiting on an answer from the buyer... | |

| Well, got the going uphill problem fixed! And just in time, the guy came and picked it up 5 minutes later. Turns out the tank needed to be raised about an inch and a half. In other words, just enough so that the hood doesn't close. Anyway, after putting the old carb back on, it runs WAY better. Raised the deck, shredded a brand spankin' new deck belt, and it looks like I'm not getting to work out the electrical issues, but I guess $325 is a pretty good amount for that! Now to pick up the next Kohler Craftsman... | |

| Well, as I mentioned in the Open Topic thread, we got a heck of a deal yesterday, and every time he gets one he's gonna let us know! Anyway, there's this leasing company in town which leases these MTD Yard Machines. A lot of times people will beat the crap out of them when they can't pay their bill, so the company comes to get them, and this company has to scrap them. Yesterday, he had 3 out by the dumpster, and he said those are the ones you can take, and everything in and on them. Anyway, two of them are savable, the other is already stripped, so we're gonna finish that job. Even got a free transaxle in the pile! All loaded up: Package delivered! They all have these oddball 13HP PowerMore engines which someone took the dipstick out of and let mother nature fill them with water. Unfortunately, this one has seen it's last days... So I finally started tearing into mine, and as soon as I saw strange stuff falling from the spark plug area, I knew what had happened, but I didn't expect a mansion Sadly, they claimed the kill wire. An update which happened about this time... The carb is so done, the throttle plate is VERY seized, EVERYTHING is covered in this, this, I dunno, but I'm still trying to squeeze some life out of it. Gotta go soak it in gasoline. All put up for the night... And now I will head back to the shop and do it again. | |

Hahaha, I'm not too excited about that either, LOL. As soon as I saw it was labeled as 'cc's I always grabbed a metric socket before an American size, LOL. The engine on mine is worth saving, looks like it may only need a carb if that, but I have a feeling my brother will be putting the good 'ol Briggs on his. I've never seen blades as stuck as these in my whole life. We had to use a 6 foot pipe on a breaker bar to get the nuts to pop. Absolutely ridiculous. I gotta replace a spindle as the old one had 3 bolts without heads, luckily it came with a good spare. The 3rd mower is no longer. It is now in 200 pieces. So, mine has some decent vari-drive issues, and my brother's needs a lot of engine parts. Worst of all, it needs an $80 starter. If it wasn't for that, both engines would be go.

| Sooooo, was gonna do a PowerMore carb cleaning vid, but my camera wasn't cooperating. I have the footage, LMK if y'all want me to post it.
Anyhow, it now runs and drives! It still needs a new carb before I can sell it, but it works for me. There is nothing wrong with the Vari-drive believe it or not, it takes hills fine, all the gears work. The lights work too! It now needs 2 spindle bolts, 2 pulley covers, one tire needs tire sealant, a carb, and the deck needs some welding. So all in all, I shouldn't have more than $40-50 in it. I'll probably have it around for another week and a half from today waiting on my carb, then I can throw it on the market! I expect to get about 4-500 hundred for it. It's pretty beaten for only being 3 years old, but it's about what I normally get.
After driving it around a bit today, I really don't like it, you can literally feel it's cheapness. But, since it's only 3 years old, I'll get a good $400 out of it, cheap or not.

| So, ordered a new deck engagement cable the other day, got a new gas tank today, and I don't need a carb. . As soon as I fill the tires with sealant, replace the cable, get two deck pulley covers, and change the gas tank, I can sell the Yard Machine! Also picked up that Craftsman today... I definitely paid what it's worth. EVERYTHING in the rear is seriously begging for oil. But the engine runs and runs good! Cleaned the carb, threw a starter on, changed the battery, threw in a gas tank, runs great! Doesn't even need oil. The engine needs a breather tube, the little electrical box thingy on the back coner, an air filter, and the engine is complete! The main problem is changing the rear tires... they're severely rusted on. Ima give the grinder a work out! | |

| Well, looking at my last post, I made it sound rather easy... Little harder than what I mentioned. Anyway, it mows now! I have to put 4 nuts on the blower shroud to keep it on, find an air filter, and it goes for sale. | |

I hate the ones with the cable, the lever pto was so much better & never failed.... Every one I get with the cable is usually stretched & like you said a pain to replace.

| Yeah. I mean it's better than the older MTD's, but it's still not like Craftsman. It was probably stretched before it snapped. It wasn't actually that hard to replace... I just happened to have to drop the deck again due to a bent pulley. Also the rear tires were leaking. Just had to do a lot I wasn't expecting. Anyway, got everything done on it now and it's up for sale! As for the Craftsman I just picked up, it now drives! Had to soak the brakes in WD40, oil the, uh, "go", handle (I forgot what it's called for some reason), and I cut the old rear wheels and rims off. Took about an hour per wheel, and 2 cutting wheels for the grinder. Now it runs and drives great when it has gas. Here's what's left of the rims... Also got the deck adjustment freed up. This is also the first LT1000 I've gotten that actually rolls when you pull the pressure release. It now needs: -2 front wheels -Glue down the floor mats -Install the rest of the deck lift assembly -1 light socket, 2 bulbs -A wash -Blade sharpening -Install deck -New deck belt And then I can sell it. I believe this will be the last sale of the year. It looks like it's begging to be a mud mower, but it's mowing days aren't finished...

| Yeah, from now on I know what to expect from LT1000 hydros. The Murray hydro's are pretty tough though... I have no issues with those. But man, I'll never buy another LT1000 with a hydro. Not unless someone gives it to me or I have a spare. | |
