Its on now...project is ready to roll......

[Complete] MrShaft696 Stretched CraftsmanPlicity [2018 Build-Off Entry] Img_7710

This is what the tractor started as.....
[Complete] MrShaft696 Stretched CraftsmanPlicity [2018 Build-Off Entry] Img_6825

Goals of the project are to stretch the tractor about 2ft, in the middle & add a little bit in the rear to mount a class II hitch.  The red sears trailer is going to become the dump bed.  Going to run 25" tires in the rear & 22's in the front.  Discarding all the craftsman sheet metal in favor of a simplicity hood, will fabricate the running boards & fenders.  There are dozens of other modifications that have to happen with the linkage & belts etc.  Running a hydro rear for now for the control & slow crawl, I like to be able to walk with the tractor when we work on the property.  I bought the tractor not running for 33 bucks & have another donor frame for the stretch....

Did a little bit of work this weekend... I got my belt mocked up and im afraid because of the length of it, I will need some idler pulleys just to keep the belt from being floppy in the middle. I want to get the pulleys in place before I weld the frame back together because there is no going back after that...

Found a tire size I like for the front 20x8x10, I may or may not use the tires but the size is good... I started ripping out the rest of the stock wiring, that's about it.

I am inundated with projects at the moment and it just snowed another foot here yesterday. Progress is slow.....

Finally got my donor frame cleaned up & measured out for what section I'm going to use, then ran out of time.

I was having a hard time keeping the frame square with just the angle iron holding the two halves, so I think having the frame section cut and tacked in place with force the angle iron to be straight.[Complete] MrShaft696 Stretched CraftsmanPlicity [2018 Build-Off Entry] Frame_10

Get an old rim and either drill holes in it and slide bolts through or weld on some threaded rod.

Right but i need the keyed center section, the best I can think of is cutting the 8" rim and welding inside of the 12" rim.....

I guess it is possible to find a 5 lug hub off of a cub cadet or wheel horse maybe>? Weld it on or use a set screw?

The keyed center section would come on the rim that you cut up to make the hub though.

If you have 1" axle shafts then John Deere, Wheel horse, or Cub Cadet hubs will work.

Ok that is what I was wondering. I don't, so I guess I have to stick with cutting up the little keyed wheels and welding inside the bigger wheel.

nice that is cool... sucks i only have 5 lug 12" rims now, but im sure I can find others.....

Anyway I was messing with my belt and pulleys earlier, seems like the clutch it not strong enough to loosen the belt too much, but I dont think it will be a problem since im running a hydro trans, My older hydros just run the belt all the time since the trans basically stops the tractor....

I got to get the move on, with this pile, I was trying to short cut with the wheels so I dont have to cut and weld rims to test drive it as is....

finally got the frame & subframe all stitched & bolted up.... gonna try and get my rear wheels built today so I can roll the thing around & hopefully test drive & make some decisions about pulleys etc.
