| Hey all, does anybody know off the top of your head what would be a good/max size engine pulley for this mower? I am going to pick up a 4" tranny pulley and was thinking about swapped the engine at the same time but have been reading that the engine pulley if too big will interfere with the other tensioner pulleys.
Also, what would the diameter of the shaft be with the key?
It is the LT2000 917275751 with an 18.5HP briggs and stratton engine.

| A 1 to 1 is what most people usually do I think. So like 4" to 4", 5" to 5" 6" to 6" etc. Im not sure about max size cuz I dont know what kinda room your dealing with, but I wouldnt go any smaller then 4" pulleys because you could run into slippage problems. Also the PTO end of the crank should be 1" diameter with I think a 1/4" keyway. Hope that helps! | Awesome! I am thinking going 4" on both engine and tranny. Hope it gets me to at least 15MPH with the 6 speed tranny! | |

| Ended up with a 3" tranny pulley and kept the stock engine. I was gonna go bigger on the tranny but they were out of the 4". Hope it doesn't slip | |

| Noice! Too much more speed and you might wanna start upgrading the steering and front axle though. Wouldnt wanna start wobbling going down the road haha. Are you still running the stock clutch?

Yup everything is stock except the tranny pully. I was watching a video on YouTube, with looked like the same mower but his got up to 25! I think maybe he messed with his governor cause i think i saw a string attached to the arm that he could pull.

| Yeah, upgrades would be a good idea especially if it's gonna be strictly for speeding around on the road. Or is it more of an off-roader? You should start a build thread of it so we can see some pictures! We love those hahaha

I'm not sure where I want to go with this tbh, this whole tractor stuff is brand new to me. I mainly gonna be in my back yard and up and down the road. I am gonna adjust the valves either later tonight or tomorrow when the engine is fully cold since the starter likes to hang up on the compression stroke and I have a hunch the valves are way outta spec.

| Could be, they go lots of hours without adjusment sometimes. Starter could be dirty inside as well. That happened on my MTD, even with a fully charged battery the starter would create so much drag it would just drain the battery. Yea I thought it was a my battery at first but it was good and charged and tested, so I took the spark plug out and it turns over nicely so my guess is valves, will update tomorrow! | |

| My favorite ratio is 5 inch front and 4 inch rear. Slightly overdriven, but a good all around ratio. As others have said, steering upgrades are a good call for anything over 20ish mph, depending on your factory setup | |

| Ouch! I bet it was hard to start. I suck at doing regular maintenance on the one mower I have. I got the hard start at around 10 years. :-) | |
