MTD off-road build (Mobile Terrain Dominator) "1"

She looks good Allis! I'm not a fan of back racks myself, ruins the look. Although we both gotta work out some storage. Coffee can under my hood won't fit with a car battery(whenever I get that lol). Why the motorcycle style seat? Let me tell ya, it's nice to have a back rest sometimes haha, plus you can bolt on armrests from office chairs like I did on my grass cutting Snapper

She's never had seat springs, I don't mind though. The coils are from old A-C tractor seat coilovers I took apart.

I've had that seat forever, I just like the way it looks. You gotta hang on when you take a corner at full tilt though, not much to keep your behind in place haha.

Actually that's Carter's Yard Machines with the parts Jacobsen hood on. Fits well and looks much better. We put a custom exhaust on it as well and I believe he's ordering some 20" knobbies for it.

No. If I could've told him not to buy it I would have. Haha, naw it's not that bad.

Lol those MTDs are alright offroad sometimes. Being able to go mad fast in reverse is great, sometimes

Well tonight I picked up a spare trans for this thing.







Runs through all four gears fine, both axles turn freely, and the shifter and cup look fine. There's no oil in it but no rust inside either, so it seems pretty good! Nice to have at least one spare trans now, haha.

Rekon if i pull the gear shift off of mine I should be able to see if it junk in there or not?

Yeah it's worth a shot. It would give you an idea anyway.

What transaxle is that? it looks odd.

It's a Peerless 600 series transaxle. Same one that's in this tractor, the Ford, and the rat rod.

Never seen one before. Thoughts on it? it looks beefey. You locked it right?

Yeah they're pretty tough old transaxles really, also no it's not locked. I did have it half apart a couple days ago to inspect it a bit.

You know he didn't lock it! For all the working stuff he does with the MTD, I kinda don't blame him.

Yeah, open diffs and almost stock pulleys are kinda what I'm known for around here, haha.

Hmmm I like the locked for the mud but that's ok.

Yeah I'm not denying that it would help, because it definitely would. I just haven't done it is all.

So your mtd doesnt go very fast then ?

Just barely faster than stock, but it's still the fastest off-roader of the group so it doesn't need to go any faster.
