Thanks Rich, I'm probably gonna keep it greased up to slow down wear a bit. I'm probably not doing the hood swap, I like the MTD hood better. Plus I dont think Carter would take kindly to me taking it hahaha.

You could drill and tap a grease port in it! :-)

Yeah I thought about putting a grease fitting in there at some point, the more grease fittings the better! Hahaha. But I built a new heavy duty clutch today so I need to get that working properly before anything else.

Ahhh we're getting a Ford LT 110 tomorrow for my brother to use as an off-roader!! Gonna drop a 16hp opposed in the old girl and hopefully get it to run. I wanna convince him to join the forum as well so he can show everyone the build, he's got lots of ideas for it haha. If this keeps up I think Doug should start paying me for recruiting members! Hahaha.

My buddy in New York had a Ford LT10. Had a peerless 600 with 3 lug hubs. Got scrapped tho...was pretty pissed. Was a nice tractor. Make sure to get your brother to join! We always need new souls to harvest!

Yeah this one has a 600 with the hubs, kinda jealous of that hahaha. Yeah I guess I'm the only one in the group with out a Jacobsen built product! Hahaha.

*Bragging time* The deal we're making tomorrow is for the Ford LT 110, a mower deck for it, a 14hp oppy for parts, a 16hp oppy for the Ford, a locked up 11hp for parts, a running 11hp, a couple of Ford fuel tanks, a pair of rear rims, another pair of rear rims with the original turfs from the Ford, and two spare hoods for the Ford. For $200. Hahaha lucky Carter found that ad!!

Awesome deal man! I find that kinda stuff here once in a blue moon. When I got Orion and those oppys and stuff was one of those rare occasions. You get an oppy to tinker with too! Maybe it has a good coil for a certain someone...lol

Haha yeah. I'm pumped to see that 16hp oppy stuffed into that little Ford. He actually found out he can get a coil from work for $50, so he's probably gonna get that. The funny thing was he was so upset by the engine problem that he was looking for a different tractor online! Thats when he found that ad, hahaha. It all worked out in the end!

$50 for a coil? That's waaaayyyy overpriced. I'm fairly certain you can pick up an aftermarket one online for under $20 and they're just as good. Be easy on the clutch dumps with that poor 600 lol.

Edit: I think the Fords have the engine pointed sideways out the side of the hood, so you'll only have to cut one side I think. Just a thought.

Oh no, some coils go for a lot more than that brand new. My Papa had to buy one for his Cub and it was almost $100.

Ah that 600 will handle a beating, dont you worry haha. The hoods are actually high enough that the blower shrouds dont hit, might be a different story with an oppy though haha. Good thing is that since the singles where mounted sideways the oppy should bolt right up!

Onan coils you need to bust out a loan for them. I converted my 77 Sears to a GM HEI coil because of it. Ran way better, but that engine kicked it over time. :-/

Well I've been having some pretty bad belt drag issues lately. And since I couldn't seem to get the old clutch to work at all, I decided to make a new heavy duty one!





It's like 3/16 flatstock with a 5/8" bolt for the pivot point, so it's fairly heavy. It also works!! Hahaha. But yeah, it works lime a charm! I have good belt tension and it clutches beautifully now, I couldn't be happier!

I also got my brakes hooked up. I used a drive cable from an old weed wacker as the cable from the handle to the caliper.




The brakes work great as well! It stops me pretty quick when I put the clutch in at full speed, and it holds the tractor on a hill as well. The handle doesnt have to move too far to lock the brakes up either, which is nice.

This is about as far back as it goes.


I'm very happy to have that all taken care of, being able to actually stop is just great hahaha. Let me know what ya think!

Looks good! I'm guessing you flipped the pulleys around opposite of where they were in the pic of them in the vise? Or does the belt not hit that thing in the middle? Also, is that a stop for it off the side there? Brakes are nice to have lol. Gonna make a latch for em?


Also, when ya gonna get a MIG? You must really be determined to be doing this all with stick

Thanks Rich! The peice in the middle clears the belt pretty good, it's where the clutch rod hooks to. It just slides on that bolt and a nut goes on the end. I probably will make a latch someday, would be nice to have.

Haha, I wouldn't mind using a MIG from time to time, but with the old rusty steel I use I'd spend more time cleaning if off than actually welding it. I've been using ARC welders for a long time now, I can weld sheet metal with the right electrodes.

Well since I got my clutch and brakes functioning properly pretty, much all the really important stuff is done! ....for now haha. I would like to get some better front tires sometime, but until I find some I like I'm gonna work on smaller, but still important stuff. First off I'm gonnna fab up a new intake setup. Not like a snorkel or anything, but it will be a bit higher up than stock.
All I know now is I'm gonna be using a small round air cleaner I bought today cuz I like the way the round air cleaners look.



We'll have to see what I end up doing I guess haha.

I'm using that same air cleaner I think on Sasquatch II. Is it the one with the solid top? I drilled a hole in the top of mine so I could run the breather cover rod through. LOL

Naw it doesnt have the solid top, I'm gonna have to make a base and a top for it. I'd kinda like to make a top out of checker plate if I can get some. That would probably look pretty cool.
