| It is a decent trans, has a diff carrier which strengthens it up a lot. Shift on the fly as good as any other peerless trans. In my opinion better than the MST 20x series or 930, or even 920. Not as good as the 820, those have bigger axles and bearings instead of bushings, but the 801 is a good trans. | |

| Awesome thank you! I had kind of came to the thought that the case was almost as strong as an 820, but smaller diameter shafts. Other than that I had no idea about it. How hard is it to convert to oil lube? | |

| just throw some in it lol. I think it has axle bearings that are sealed. Run a bead of pematex gasket maker around the case and your good to go. | |

| Im a little late on this, but the 801 under my ranch king was already oil filled. idk if they did some of these oil, some grease. somebody could have added some to it, but from the gunk that was in it, it didnt look like it had ever been changed. i threw 90weight gear oil in it and it seems to be doing fine. no leaks, at least the last time i checked it.
And honestly dude, we should have checked the levels in that simplicity a long time ago. the way it sang something had to be wrong, but neither of our lazy a$$es ever checked it, which should be the first thing you do. just like checking the oil in an engine. then you end up with the problems you ran into | |
