So my mom was bumping along on our dirt road in her 2007 Honda Oddessy that has about 240k on the odometer, and the belt kept squealing on her. Suddenly, the power steering went out, the battery light came on, and the AC stopped. She couldn't go more than about 7 MPH on that road in that car because she's blown out the suspension doing that multiple times. Since going 7 MPH without power steering in a power steering car is pretty hard, she pulled over and walked the last quarter mile to our house. When I went up there to have a look, this was sitting in the road behind it.
That's the harmonic balancer pulley, the harmonic balancer had apparently seized or something. This is what the pulley is supposed to look like.
Anyway, just thought that was funny, LOL. We ended up replacing the Oddessey with a '06 Range Rover LR3 with AWD and air ride suspension, does great in our road. We were constantly getting the Oddessy stuck.

We picked it up for free at the exhaust shop. He planned on using it for utility purposes, but it didn't work out. We put the 16.5 briggs oppy on Lil' Green and we're going to use whats left of it for parts. Anyway, this is what you get from someone who does allot of welding...
I'll eventually use that huge hydro in another tractor, then the body, floorboards, and hood will be used in some rat rod build if I ever get around to one. The frame has been destroyed with welds and is only worth scrap. Big piece of junk.

Was taking apart a supercharged 3800 I got for free deciding if I wanted to rebuild it or not. I was told it had a rod knock, which it did. It spun the bearing, stacked em, and smashed them into each other. #1 and 2 cylinder rod journals on the crank were trashed. Won’t be able to machine them out.
What I DIDNT expect to find was a piston that broke ALL THREE ring seats!

Not so much a FAIL, but an oops that could have been fail.
Put Thor's mower deck back on after putting in a new bearing in the center mandrel. Worked great. I mowed half the yard with it before it got dark last night. Anyways, I started cleaning off the work bench after and found the 3 set screws for the center pulley. Uh........
Grr... now I have to pull the deck off and take the cover off the deck. grumble grumble.

Really though pinion bearings can fail in any trans.
I knew you'd say that, haha. They were the best I had at the time, nothing to compare them to.
I know they can, but I've seen other trans take much, much more without burning out the bearings. The drive ratio of the 110 is 1 turn of the engine equals 3 turns of the trans input. The ratio here was like 5 turns of the engine equal 1 turn of the trans, plus the John Deere is about 30 years older.
