| I moved the magneto closer to the carb and secured it with one bolt. It cranked a little harder but ran better and burned the fuel mixture better <<<--i know this because it blee less oil smoke than before. Tomoros im gonna move it to thd other side for retarded ignition and see what happens. | |

| Jeez, that's like 30 degrees of extra advance. Pretty intresting that it runs with that much advance. Retarded that far (if it starts) will probably cut the power way down. Careful of way too much advance like that during starting, could potentially kick back and bust the starter teeth all up. | |

Agreed. Did you actually put this under load, or just sitting there in neutral? Did you shoot some video?

| @mr mod. Thats the wrong starter, it has the newer metal gear on it and it chewed up the ring gear. I pull start it all the time cause its so worn out and compression is really low. So its not much of a hassle. And it has kicked back and yanked my arm pretty good. I cant drive it because my belt broke, so it didnt have a load on it. And yes, i got video, i used my phone sothe quality isnt real good but u can tell wat it is | |

| You can try the second mag, but I don't think there will be an appreciable difference. As it is, your engine essentially uses a waste-spark system, so it's banging on the exhaust stroke too. | |

| I know its a waste spark system, but having a second spark while the fuel mix is burning could help it burn better. Hell, if a feel like it i might put 3 mags o it. That would be cool if it worked cause itd be more efficient i think | |

| You know what I think would be GENUINELY better? A retrofitted 12v automotive coil, with the plug gap opened way up to 0.050"-0.060". | |

| Yes doc, that would be genuine. But my mower has literrally ZERO electrical stuff on it. Everytime i put elextrical stuff on it it gets toasted or snags a branch or just plain dont work. I pull start it and dump the clutch to kill it. Zero electrical. Its not for me | |

| So. Update. Thus week i did retard the timing, but with the valve timing being retarded already, it just shot flames out the exaust and didnt even run. I tried dual magnetos using one off my gokart but the egdes hit the flywheel, so once i file down the edges i can mount it and see what works and what doesnt.
Stay tuned yall | |

Oh neat, what do you use, aluminum rods i'm guessing? I tried some of those rods that your supposed to be able to melt in with a propane torch. Didn't work out so well. I only tried it once though, should do more experimenting.

| From What I have found, welding aluminum sucks. It is super difficult to weld well. The best way to weld aluminum is tig btw.

| Idk what kind of sticks we use. When we first pully swapped the mower we welded a aluminum deck pulley to the stock steel pulley, it worked but it wasnt pretty at all. | |

| And it was a pain in the arse to weld the aluminum cause it kept melting and the pulley kept sliding around. So yes welding aluminum is quite hard | |

| cut a circular piece of flat metal that you can bolt down to existing coil mount in jug and drill new holes for small bolts to hold coil to the advance you desire. possibly several optional holes in the flat stock for different advancing options. Sorry I am new here so it may not work out the way I am thinking but would avoid the welding problem with aluminum altogether | |
