What's the best tuner I can get for my '04 Jeep Grand Cherokee? It's a 2wd 4.0 and I need it for better mileage (some horsepower gains would be nice too Very Happy ) I'd like to keep it around $350ish and would like to have a screen with real time gauges. Anyone know if such a creature exists?

I use a scangauge II on my vehicle. It's not a tuner, but it has all the real-time info you're looking for.

The best tuning really, is changing your driving habits. The scangauge will help you see the difference.

The best mpg I ever got in a Grande Cherokee, straight-6 with full-time AWD was 18mpg with average speeds of 30-55mph. You should be able to beat that because you have 2WD (less weight) and live in FL (hotter air, which isn't as dense, and flatter terrain).

Well I've changed my habits, but still want a tuner. I know of the big name brands that sell tuners, just don't know which is perfect for me

superchips is your best bet for the jeep had a 94 jeep grand cherokee 318 all wheel drive was beast but 11 mpg sucked after the 31s it went to 9mpg sold it....lol but yea super chips is your best bet but dont expect to find anything under 400 to work great most of these (programmers) only add a 3-5% hp and torque in crease and help a little out with fuel mileage but superchips programmer will run ya 500-600 easily...but heres a link hope it helps be better off maybe changing out the rear pimion gears and ect and maybe adding some headers and better hi-flow exhaust that will free up a few ponies and better mpg some hi flow cats...just suggestions lol http://www.quadratec.com/products/17609_5100.htm?sgsc=C6Z06ZR1C6Z06ZR1&utm_medium=compshop&utm_source=googlemerchant&gclid=Cj0KEQjwyrqgBRDepamt-LWA2oABEiQAV7nwwENwryN6Wkj99qXBPuo4PNsvhjp2pf752fjeNphH1XgaAli-8P8HAQ

Found the same tuner from Superchips themselves for $349 http://superchips.com/products/vivid-linq---jeep-138750-138750/ It's not in the budget now, or anytime soon to open up the rear axle or get a high flow exhaust. Neither really help with the 4.0 or city driving

tuners are generally used when you do something to the engine and need to adjust settings you want a cheap way to boost fuel economy throw in some quaker state high mileage with the zinc I went from 15 mpg in my collie to 20 nuff said.

You can also use a tuner to adjust your computer on a stock engine too. Personally, I don't see any type of oil giving me any better mileage in this engine. In a newer engine, maybe, but not a straight 6

You may see some very small gains on a stock setup but none enough to warrant the four to five hundred dollars you would spend on a tuner.

I totally agree. If you want a good tuner, you gotta fork the money. and im not sure if you'll even see a 10hp increase, or fuel mileage.

Tuners are for diesels IMO.
