| HI guys I was wondering if you could put a vari-Drive from a MTD onto a Murray with 5-speed 820 for more of a variable speed setup with out having to have the motor screeming in 5th? or idle the motor while going through a town and not get pulled over for being loud.? or achive a lower speed crawl for off-road?
Any suggestions on how this would work would be appriciated, or a comment on why it won't work.

| For what you're after, I don't think the benefits outweigh the liabilities. It will be difficult to set up properly, require 2 belts, require more maintenance, and you'd probably have to regear anyways. | |

| Well I would need a 96" belt if I just did a pulley swap, if I did the Vari-Drive that would be cut in half and there fore belts would be cheaper to buy.

Absolutely. I don't think it's particularly practical, but hell- give it a shot. Could work out for ya, you never know.

| You need a pivot point for the clutch, linkage with slots for llimiters of how much the clutch moves, spring, flat idler tentioner for the rear belt, and a pulley up front that can accept 5/8" belts. | |

Does the front pulley need to be 5/8"? if is the pulley's I got should be able to hold them. I was gonna steal the parts from the MTD to make this work if I need to.
