Is there anything that would be good to clean a carburetor if its been setting for a while or add to the gas with out having to pull it off a motor

Depends how bad it is. When it's to the point of NEEDING to be removed and manually cleaned, there's no getting around it. How bad is it? Is the engine running?

It will run but only on full choke and it misses and back fires while its running and usally the the engine will surge and start running faster and gets to missing and back firing and cut off after a few minutes if you drive it around it will speed up and slow down and speed back up while moving

And if it sets for about a month to month and a half I have to take off air cleaner and pour a little gas in carburetor to get it to start and I have to repeat that about 5 times but thats only if it sets for a while never figured out why it does that but it did that before it started running bad

Just to throw in my 2 cents worth. My dad had a 4 wheeler that had carb problems. He pulled the fuel line and sprayed the carb full of carb cleaner and let it set for a few hours. After that he fired it up and it has run great ever since.

maybe some thing to try before pulling it off to clean it.

what is said carbureator on? like, engine make and size. does it have a fuel pump? if it was me, i would just bite the bullet and take it off. there is only so much one of them "miracles in a can" can do. i like the idea of filling it with carb cleaner, might work. but with that, ya gotta think, where is all that schmutz gonna go? its gonna go to the bowl, only to get sucked up again.

Yeah... what HE said. Plus... some carb cleaners are very harsh, and can eat rubber seals, O-rings, diaphragms, some plastics... This is another chief reason that disassembly is the correct solution.
