| If the motor is running well, I'd check for belt slippage. We kinda need to know some info if ya want us to help you diagnose. Is the motor running right? does the belts make noise? Is it underpowered or just slow? Are they the stock tires? Gotta give to receive, in this case give us some info, and we'll give you some help | |

| Try putting the throttle cable end in one of the holes closer to the pivot point... possibly someone put it in the wrong hole. (no jokes please!)

| I think step one here, is determining whether your expectations are realistic. Do keep in mind that these things aren't built for speed. Having a tachometer on hand would help you determining if the engine is developing full RPM. If it IS (and indeed under load) and your belt isn't slipping, well- that's it, really. Snail's pace and all. From there, it's upgrade city! | |

| True enough, HP and Rpm aren't the determining factor, final drive ratio is. If the tractor was built for pulling heavy implements, as some are, the top speed is gonna be limited... but you can reach top speed pulling a house.
You may also check to see if there is a Hi/Low setting on the tranny as well. Some tranny's have a lever to switch from a high final drive ratio to a low one | |

| Im not looking for racing speeds or anything like that. Just want a little more speed. And i dont know if it was built for towing or not. Got it 2nd hand for free. Haven't messed with pulleys yet. 6speed peerless. Craftsman mower but dont know what kind it was. All markings were removed before i got it. 15.5 on the motor. | |

| On average, these things tend to cap out at a mind-numbing 5mph. Slight speed increases can be had by installing larger rear tires, and tweaking the governor up a few hundred RPM. Past that, you'll be into regearing, via changing the pulleys. | |
