| So I found these a long time ago and forgot about them then after looking through my bookmarks found them again! You guys might like them since its pretty much a 15+hp engine for 400$ I have seen airboats and all sorts of tractors with them lodged in their engine bays Id get one but I have other plans... The are 32ci 4cyl opposed engines rated at 10hp by the government but actual hp is more like 15-20+ I have heard of people using tecumseh carbs and all sorts of modifications but they sound like drag engines if you pipe them right lol there are also 16 ci 2 cylinders and theres some 84ci 4 cyls if you can find them will post links http://saturnsurplus.com/http://store.colemans.com/cart/32-cid-engine-4-cylinder-unused-p-120.html | |

| Interesting... I think I'll look up Teledyne specs and see what that 4 cyl really is. These are basically generator motors, so the torque specs will be much higher than you would expect for the HP rating. | |

| I've been around these some. They are derated by the military, figure double hp at least.
Carburetor floats in these get fuel logged. Maybe due to newer ethanol gas.
Pull start. Couple of 24v starter ones, not common. Can adapt a mazda starter to work, but I haven't done it.
Used in pumps, generators, and mules(small military truck).
Fairly light weight. 110lbs.
Saturn surplus is a great place to deal with.
Colemans is also a good place.

| Exactly my thunkin. Shoot, I may put one in the Mitsu after it hit's a million miles lol The torque specs on these motors are pretty impressive. Remove the governer, add a bigger carb, abd you have a decent driveable engine. US mil ratings are half of 80% max. That means the flat 4 rated at 20 hp is actually more like 50 as it sits. A vw carb and governer removed should bring it easily up to 65 or so.
(My info on mil ratings is from the late 80's, so any of you newer Mil members may have updated specs... if so, please chime in) | |
