got bad compression? easy fix if it is just the rings! take the spark plug out and add some oil to the cilender(s) spin it over a few times and put the plug back in. if it is your rings it will give you some compression. I've done this to my Kawasaki and my dad's car (cause he was to cheep to get it rebuilt, and the rest of the car was trashed by the p.o. so he said ok, you can try, it won't hurt it). remember, this is not a permanent fix! this will work for a wile, however. then you can use engine restore, which will help to. then when it quits you can rebuild it or find another engine that needs a coil or carb and swap your good parts for the bad ones.

What you are describing is a test procedure. If you have a cylinder testing low, you fire some oil in there and retest. If a compression increase is noted, the rings are the culprit.

Please note that this is NOT a fix, not even temporarily. As soon as you fire up the engine, that oil's gone and your poor compression is still equally poor compression?

The fix? Fixing it. No way around that.

fixing burnt rings by adding oil? no.. as soon as it starts youre gonna have a smoke-show while the oil burns off. it MIGHT help to get it started, but i doubt it. only way to fix is to, well... fix it, by that i mean top end rebuild if it really is the rings that are ailing. what was described is more of a test. you compression test, give it some oil and test again. helps diagnose the issue

I know it is a test procedure, but it worked for me, my mower runs great, and so does my dads car
