I added a muffler today. Rode for a bit, clutch pulleys are dry.

I painted mine black and put a clear coat on it.

Late august. Put a foot throttle on my mower. Works perfect
That was easy.
Early september. Changed pulley back to 1:1 ratio cause the belt was gettin worn out. Converted my spicer six speed to a three speed using pvc pipe as spacers. Drove to my friends house and raced his 4wheeler off road. Since i race prepped my rod it can handle WOT. I was wide open on the straight part of the trail when. BOOM BANG CHITTY CHITTY. it backfired, caught on fire. Put the fire out with sand and pushed it home. Not a big dea ill clean evrything and drive some more. Well. I was wrong.
Late september. Pulled it out of the weeds and started to work on it. Cleaned the carb, put it back on, i try to crank it, itspins over once then locks up. Im like wth. Take the valve cover off and wala, bent valve stems. Force it over a couple times and it spins easier. Crank it and it fires up. Heres the problem tho. The float on the carb works, but it doesnt stop the fuel flow. So i can crank the motor and run it at high rpms and it runs fine. If i try to let it idle or rev it when its runnin slow, itll sputter alot but itll rev up. Ive cleaned the carb several times and verified the float was workin by blowin into the fuel nipple and rotating the carb. But why it wont stop the fuel flow i dunno. As of right now im lookin for another engine to replace it with.

I blew the Peerless 920 for the last time.    Outta spares and sick of pushing it home.  

SO, I'm taking all the good stuff from the Murray and making the Simplicity the tractor to beat.

Simplicity was originally a 7hp.  Now it will be a 12+hp flatty that I built in Doc's low buck flatty build page.  The motor is still running strong and smooth.  

More updates to come as this one gets the treatment!

Right on! That oughta be good! Speaking of fragged trannies, I had to repair mine today. When I'm done talking here, I'll put a link in. Meanwhile... I'm really thinking to reconfigure things. I'm thinking 700 and live axle. I have most of the parts already. Just need a sprocket, and a hub or two. We'll see.

That simplicity looks like a 727 broadmore. We have one, it might be a bigger model though. Pretty beef, mr. modified has one and it looks pretty stout.

Yeah, That's a 728 Broadmoor. Pretty stout indeed. I'm looking forward to riding this one more than working on it.

Lessee here, on the 920's (plural of course)... I've gone through numerous shift fingers, destroyed input bevel gears, knocked all the teeth off of the big step-down gear and ring gear, and completely blown the ring gear / bull gear right through the housing. They just can't handle the abuse. Period.

I've killed them doing various things. Sometimes just riding around, other times killed when plowing and hitting a stump, or plowing and trying to wheelie the plow over the leaf pile... Things like that.

I think if the 920 was the only option I had, I would cut down the 3" long keys that lock the rims to the axles and make them the weak point. I'd figure about 3/8" long keys would shear before the 920 let go. But that may take some experimentation in length. The wheels were held on by "E" clips, so I could have had a handful of keys and a jacknife and replaced them as I sheared them... Hindsight is 20-20.

That car is a 3rd generation Mercury Comet. I forget what the other one is, maybe a thunderbird...

Got a little more done on the build yesterday.  Front tires and had to cut out the grill to fit the motor.  

Still need to cut more out of the grill, build a new exhaust, swap rear tires, set up my foot throttle, and more.  Front tires need clearanced too, as I'm sure the rears will as well.

Yep, precisely. They were built to mow grass, and haul around those silly little Suzie Q. Homeowner leaf wagons. We beat them into submission. Sometimes they even submit more easily than expected.

Wish I had the "small key in the wheels idea" before blowing up all my Peerlesses! meh,,, I'm glad I was forced to switch to the Simplicity anyway. Keeping the Murray alive would be the same as giving it a prolonged death. It needed to be euthanized!

welp I pulled the carb on my simplicity 707 to try and figure out why it was surging and would only run a minute or two. Found a huge glob of... something? was about to clean it when my lazy bone kicked in and suggested I take the carb off the briggs 11 horse that was in the deere and swap them out. So I swapped the exhaust the carb and a couple other dodads that looked important over possibly bolting on 1 more horse? >.> who knows but she runs and plows pretty well so we shall see what the winter holds for it. Oh and I miss matched the front tires 13x6x6 ag on one side and 15x6x6 turf on the other I had to giggle a little but Ill get the other tire fixed sooner or later.

Didn't realize you had an old simplicity T-Dub. I hammered mine pretty good (with stock gearing anyway). Stripped my steering teeth a little now, but that was from running into stuff like trees and frozen snow piles, not just rought terrain. I've gotta find a gear box and rig it back up again. I think I'll weld the articulated part solid too, It's a little hard on your sides in the woods.

Started up the Old 86 Craftsman for the first time in about 4 months started right up though, good thing I ran all that fuel before I parked it for the winter.

Nit mucho at all. Been at my gmas house messing with my oppy gettin it running again. Gonna pack it up and take it home today. Its gonna go on my crafsman to replace the pos powerbuilt

yeah today im tearing the peerless 920 out of the rig because its all worn out and it makes a gear skipping/grinding noise.
