Right now I have a FNR transmission in my mtd can I put a five or six speed in without changing anything

LAWN MOWER MUDDER put a 5 speed rear end in his vari drive giving him 35 speeds. so yea it is but he know a lot more than I do about this topic

Yes I do. its a lot of videos but I show you how to mount it, make a shifter, make a clutch, linkage, run a belt and springs. A lot of work!

Yeah it is possible, the only reason that I stopped working on the 35 speed beast is because that the trans mounts on the five speed peerless were wider than the ones on the vari-drive so I had to make new mounts but I didn't have the materials to do that.  So I put it aside and worked on the rally, but it should work.

honestly what i would do is try to find another tractor. the mtd frames are crappy and flex a lot. i would never trust a nice 5 or 6 speed tranny under that

Not all mtd frames flex a lot... war pig doesnt flex at all.. like zero.. pony is a little guilty tho.. lol its getting built rite some day lol
