PostSubject: Foote tranny problem   Foote tranny problem Icon_minitimeMay 13th 2013, 11:51 am

I was riding my mower and it was in 4th gear and all of a sudden it locked up. So I put it in third and worked fine along with 1st and 2nd so then I tried 4th again and it more like 5 feet then locked up again. And ever since then it's only moving in reverse no matter what gear does anyone know what happened?

Well you need to take the tranny out and tear the tranny apart then you will know whats wrong. Lots of work but worth it. I had problems with my foote 3 speed tranny also but took it apart and cleaned it all and it works fine.

Sounds like something seized up. Only way to tell is tear it down...

Does shifter still move, and all gears are reverse?

Ok so I just took it apart and all I found was that one tooth was broken off in 4th gear I pulled the piece out but should I be worried about it? Also it seems to all

the piece of tooth was probably wedged in the gears. If you got the piece out, it should work ok.

id think you'd still have 4th, but there would be 'slack' when it gets to the broken tooth
