| I saw something, at a recent historical society farm thing I went to recently.
It was an antique horse drawn thresher hacked into a self propelled combine.
With Ford model A engines, and wagon axles.
The front axle was a solid wagon axle. with steel wheels. The old farmer that built had a top mounted platform, with a steering wheel on a shaft that ran all the way down to the bottom of the machine. He had a big ass sprocket on the shaft built to use logging chain. The chain went around the sprocket, and each end was fastened to each end of the axle. | |
