Well, ive been looking for a while now and im having a hell of a time finding a brake rotor or brake hub that will fit an standard 3/4" transaxle shaft. Anybody know where to find one, or at least a reducer?

That hub won't fit that rotor, different bolt patterns. Didn't see a 3/4 hub with the right pattern on that site.

That hub might work. I could probably buy a rotor or two and try modding it to fit.

i was going to post this but "Ariens YT11" has a cheaper way(never noticed they made them for 3/4")

An Adapter from 3/4" to 1 1/4"
http://www.bmikarts.com/1-14-to-34-Conversion-Bushing-_p_1664.html
A Hub for 1" or 1 1/4"
http://www.bmikarts.com/Hub-with-3-18-Bolt-Pattern-_p_1383.html
A Mechanical Caliper
http://www.bmikarts.com/Mechanical-Caliper-_p_624.html
A Brake Rotor
http://www.bmikarts.com/8-Brake-Rotor--Black-_p_613.html

i don't know if the 3/4" to 1 1/4" adapter uses the right key way but it isn't as cheap as "Ariens YT11" and his is the same but no adapter.

The adapters are handy to have.

Good thing i posted it, i was debating on whether or not to post it because it was so similar to "Arens YT11". i remembered BMI karts having a 3/4" to 1" adapter but you needed to get a special bit of keystock.

Honestly ill probably just end up welding the bushing to the axle and just key the hub. Be cheaper and easier than sending the axle off to be milled for a key slot.

yeah that would work but the bushing from BMI karts is Billet Aluminum and isn't the axle steel?

i think the 3/4" to 1 1/4" adapter fits the normal keyway for a lawn tractor(i think the lawn tractor key way is 3/16") but the 3/4" to 1" adapter(the one i cant find a link to anymore) uses a 3/16"x3/8" Piece of Keystock.

Is it aluminum? I didnt check on that, I assumed it was steel.

Doesnt realy matter if its 1" or 1 1/4" cause that hub is made in both sizes.

Why do they make adaptors like that?
tractor - New brakes for tractor axle? 400239_2

They know they are dealing with specific keyway sizes. Otherwise they wouldn't know what size slot to cast into the adaptor.

Why not make the whole thing stronger, and easier to use by casting the keys into the adaptor? Like this:

Brown being the rusty old axle, and red the nice shiny wheel, of course. LOL

It's a manufacturing thing. Doing it as a casting, is not very dimensionally accurate. Machining would generally be required, and even then, still would not be as strong as a forging. Now- if they forged it (and subsequently broached the two keyways in line like that) you end up with a weak spot.

True. Especially with the sharp angles like that.
