I did not weld mine, I used 2 extra spider gears. That is alot less cleaning or having the risk of the weld breaking. I dont have extra spider gears so i just like welding them.

| JB weld wouldve worked for the intake crack - ive used it to repair some small holes on a couple tractor decks as well.
Id probably go a lil longer on those exhaust tubes- i ran shorty pipes on my mod murray and the thing backfired /popped like crazy - it can eventually burn a valve - briggs motors like a little back pressure.

Im hoping this will hold up, but if it doesn't i will JB weld it. The straght pipes are going to be a bit longer, problably exiting underneath the runningboards.

| That was a pic i found on a racing tractor website - altho i have a couple stock tractors of the same model.
My rat rod is going to have a 03 bolens chassis ( MTD) , and original unpainted rusty sheetmetal off my 69 raider 10 wheelhorse - itll be lowered, 8" golf kart rims all around, straight rear axle, and a 18HP twin opposed briggs - debating on wether to use a peerless 700 or right angle gear box with go kart clutch.

That bolens frame is going to be very strong and the wheelhorse sheetmetal is going to look sweet. The 18 horse briggs are great engines. Are you going to do any mods to the engine? I have a peerles 700 laying around, pretty strong transmissions. Ive seen people put little needle bearings in them to replace the bushings. Its nice to be able to shift, and having lots of torque. Right angle gearbox is easy to install and setup. But its more exspensive.

| I have one thats stock that was on a mod murray, i ran it with the governer and it was scarey fast - i have another briggs 18HP that i was trying to set up dual carbs on to see if it even ran ( was missing carb and intake) , i bot a couple street scooter carbs at a flea market - i was thinking of hooking one up with a custom intake possibly. Its still up in the air what ill use on it.
I already have both - the 700 peerless and the RAGB - the 1:1 RAGB i bot off ebay for $25 because a pulley is stuck on it ( ill have to cut if off) .
Itll be a bit before i get working on it - i have a few other projects and stock mowers to work on first.

Works great and gives them lots of power. I bought my 700 togheter with a little RER rear axle with ballbearings for 50 bucks. My toro groundmaster has a RAGB on the rotted out mowing deck. Im hoping i can save the deck, but if i cant save the deck i wil use the RAGB for a project or something. When you do start to build yout ratrod mower, be sure to put it up on the forum.
