| Im a GM fan. I would love to someday soon own a GMC Sierra, preferably a 1995 Sierra 1500 Diesel. Those things were tough as nails. But really I would drive anything but a Dodge or a Toyota. They just dont strike my fancy. Head Forum Administrator ** Chat Moderator ** Facebook Page AdminATLTF Facebook Page ** Chatbox ** How To Upload Pictures

| I'm a ford and jeep man. I love the 86 body style ford trucks. Mine is an 86 F350 dually. I'm also a Diesel fan. My truck has the bullet proof 6,9L diesel V8. IH knows how to build em. I have to say, Cummins is also good to. I also love the older jeep CJs and wagoneers. Please, no Ford vs Chevy type sayings here. This thread is a place for guys to post what is their favorite vehicle. We all have our favorites. Each person is entitled to their opinion, but we don't need to hear opinions here. | |

| Well, lemme see.
My first car was a 69 Toyota Corona Deluxe. Bought it for a buck, because the steering box had broken away from the frame. Body was stone straight and it had the 1.9 litre engine. 80 mph in 3rd with a 5 speed. woo hoo, for a farm boy. I was 13, thats was 33 years ago.
First street legal unit was a 69 econoline van. with all the shag carpet, and a teardrop window. Had the 300 ford six automagic.
Dropped the timing gears one day, and had to dump it. (its still there on my GP old farm), Bought a camperized 74 econoline with the 302 auto for 500 hundred bucks. Got to the end of the block before i discovered the lack of brakes.
lived in it for 7 months down by the river. November got damn cold.. Got an apartment, bought a 81 CB750F superspot Honda, and a 76 ranchero. The Ranchero rocked a 351M with the automagic trans. I actually moved with that car/truck. After that, I picked up a 76 Charger, with a 360 auto, plain jain battleship, but good on the highway. Sold it to a buddy fpr 200 after i stripped all the chrome (including wheels), and it endied up in a scrap yard. Bought an 81 ford granada, with a 302 and swapped it a 240 horse 289 for fun, drove it till I picked up a 71 F150, with the 390 automagic option.
traded that for a 81 Nisssan (Datsun) 720 pickup (4x4 king kab) with the 2.2 hemi and 5 speed . Lifted it and ran 33's on it fo a few years.
Swapped that out for a 81 bronco, and scrapped a pair of 76 Ramchargers.
Sold the bronco, and bought a 92 ex RCMP chev astro van ( iwas running a sdie business at the time) and drove it for 10 years. I used it as a camper, animal transport, dirt bike hauler stc.
After that, I picked up a 99 GMC safari, and I've been enjoying it ever since.
I've hauled my chopper, my quad, several dirtikes, the GF's seadoo, a couple of Garden tractors, several tons of scrap, and everything else i can think of. And i still use it as a camper. Its also a good soild daily driver, with decent economy, and good reliability.
I can pull my boat at 70 mph with no problem., and it runs good at -30.

| Ford's alright, not super dependable, but ok. '90-2000 year model dodges are really dependable, chevy sucks. my dad had a ford and said it broke down a lot while pulling a trailer full of wood, he got a brand new '98 dodge dakota w/ a AMC strait-4 cyl, in it, i learned to drive with that truck, it over heated almost every time you drove it, but it got you home, then he bought a brand new '04 chevy aveo to drive to work (130 miles twice a day) and the timing belt broke at 50,000 miles and destroyed the head and pistons, fixed it, then the iol pressure was way to high and it blew out all the gaskets, after that we used it to do donuts, burnouts, go mudding with ,etc......
needless to say im only going to own dodge dakotas

| I have had my Dakota for 11 years and 175,000 miles, still on original clutch, only problem so far is plugged heater core, and a valve train rattle that been there for the last 50,000 miles. Probably should check it out, but figure it's been long enough that if it was serious it would have died by now. | |

yeah, dakotas are the best, the my dads dakota had the same problems your having, the valve train rattle is the timing chain tensioner, you should check it out before the chain gets too loose and slips off. my dad put 275,000 miles on his, still ran good

| Who wants a dakota? buddy has a 93 3.9l truck in the bottom of the barn, transmission housing is cracked, and interior needs put together. 135,000 miles, he bought it new. Automatic in it crapped, so we put a stick shift in. It's a okay truck, but cab is too small for me. Last I heard he had some title issue with it, but I'm sure he could fix that.
Hmm, favorite car, truck... If gas was free, I still like the 70's ford 3/4 ton trucks, I've had 3 or 4 of them. Since I work for GM, that's what I buy now. Can't complain, we put a lot of miles on our stuff, and it lasts fine. 93 truck has 210,000 on it, 04 alero has 207,000, 07 van has 132,000, and 97 monte has 120,000. Only major work done is transmission in truck, which I did, and head gaskets on the 3.1l in the monte, which I also did.
I would absolutely love to have a DUKW(amphibious army truck), weasel(small tracked vehicle), and my ford fairmont brought up to top shape, with about 500hp....
And a duramax truck, which I will have in the spring.

| Dakota is too cramped for ya? Well your name is stretch afterall, haha. My 5'6" behind fits well in smaller trucks, loved my box body S10's. But for something i didn't have to modify, I'd like a brand new, rust free solid axle toyota, 78-85 range. Or if I didn't live where I live, a Subaru brat with newer WRX drivetrain stuffed into it, haha. | |

| I'd have to say, Ford is doing alright. Being the only auto maker not owned by the Gouv@%$^#nt. My truck hasn't given me one lick of trouble yet. My bro has a 99 F250 with a 7.3L diesel. Has 336,000 miles and doesn't leak one bit of oil. Runs stronger than ever. The older Ford diesels are almost indestructible. | |

Same with my dads 99 Ford f-350 with a 7.3 crew cab XLT it has 36X,XXX miles on it it has had a remanned tranny put into it, it has a muffler delete, 4x4 dually and, the fact that it is all stock exept that the turbo down pipe had been rusted before because the pipe is the expensive stainless steel, mandrel bent pipe that doesn't atract a magnet

| i dont see how a dokota was to small for you stretch, i love em because everything is where it should be, move youre right hand off the steering wheel and you grab the shifter, move it up and theres the radio. move ya' right foot of the brake and its right on the clutch, move ya' left hand of the wheel and you grab the door handle. everythings where it needs to be for maximum comfort, its the perfect truck | |

| Maybe because I am 6 foot 8?
They are the right size truck for a lot of people, and can tow decent amount of weight. But my life and junk require 3/4 ton trucks, no way you can tow or haul what I do with a small truck. And if the 3/4 ton truck isn't enough I have much bigger toys I can use.
