Run an FNR transaxle with the pulley vertical?

Will it work?
I have several axles and now an apparently good 125 cc engine out of a chinese ATV. I have looked at the diagrams of the FNR innards and it appears that if it was turned 90 degrees, putting the input shaft horizontal and at the top, everything would still get lubed and it should work.
Ideas?
I could put a sprocket on the input shaft and mount the engine in the back of some contraption and maybe have fun with is.

Here is one. (4) Maine Mud Mower's "Not the Norm" [2016 Build-Off Finalist] (atltf.com) I believe he runs the power wheel that way too.

Yes the original machine was an FNR with a stage 1 kit Duromax pushing 9hp
