well im making a build thread for the fact of almost every picture i upload here will be printed out and put into a binder im gonna document everything done to the truck and keep every receipt. on the title the truck shows it has stayed in indiana its whole life the last owners on the title have it signed as sellers at some point in the 90s the truck had a lein and it was released from that lein, and i belive the lean was part of a will of some sort because the last registered owners on the title died around 2010 from the last registration which came with the truck. then some hill billies (not the good kind) got their hands on the truck and beat it through the woods and then decided they wanted to restore it halfway dissasembled it and had it running, replaced the fuel pump gas tank fuel lines etc lost the gas cap lost the rear taillight lens took the hood door and fender off (on the verge of falling off lol) and purchased brand new LMC truck floor pans. the bed is a goner theres no saving it even putting a wood bottom in it wouldnt help the cab is fixable and the frame is solid and all the body mounts are there it musthave had some kind of oil leak or undercoat at one point in its life lol. none of the tires match but it is a number matching truck with 4 matching steelies i think some beauty rings are missing. once the bed is pulled im gonna cut any salvageable metal out for sheetmetal repair elsewhere and scrap the bed. its gonna need doors badly they kinda have built in ac and so does the cab floor and bed floor. the front fenders provide extra engine bay cooling and overall it has enough speed holes to make er run a pretty quick 1/4 mile if there was enough truck to make it to the strip LOL.
Pics! So heres her bad side The other side is also the bad side Sooo theres no good angle of lookin at er and yes the red stickers for me the jerks around here in town immidiately reported it abandoned it hasnt even been here for 24hrs i went and showed proof of owner ship and the cops are being jerks over it and i have 72 hrs to get it off the street and if i can manage ti get it to my alley way then i have 20 days to fix it but i think we are taking it out to my gfs aunts field where their project vehicles sit

Even has the chrome trim down the sides eh? It was probably a 2 tone when it was new, my '79 Cheyenne was green/white and fully trimmed out, I wish could say I miss it but I love my Bolens G10 I got for it!
I was looking forward to see that tractor build especially with that ridiculously cool amount of articulation but hey, life goes on! Lol. You have your work cut out but it looks like a decent base for a resto and luckily most parts are pretty cheap for them!
Why did you ever buy that piece of crap... no worries I have made many a purchase like that... So what grounds do the cops have to make you get that truck on the street, if you have the ownership and it's only been there for 24 hrs you should have a much of a right as anybody to park you truck wherever the heck you want, no? Oh, the cops are being jerks about it? doesn't surprise me...

Because its not registered, titled, plated and insured. Even bylaw enforcement can make you move a unplated vehicle if someone complains about it, if it out of sight they don't have a leg to stand on.
Yeah she looks a little gone but some good used body panels (or fix the ones you have), a fresh coat of paint and a wood flatbed and you’ll have a pretty minty jimmy! Them ok square bodies just don’t quit
I’m lucky where I live. There are ‘rules’ about junk in the subdivision, but they are ignored. I have one neighbor who has his whole lot covered with military trucks, old pickups and all sorts of good things. Others have piles of lawn mowers (the village mower guy) and me, and others. We just enjoy life and don’t complain about each other. I hope your neighbors get the karma they deserve.

I never figured out why GMC bothered to put bodies on those trucks. They start disappearing as soon as they leave the dealer.

Yeah, I understand the up north rust issue. This truck was in Oklahoma all its life. We are the 3rd owner, but I knew the first and the second was my uncle. I'm actually hoping to do some work with it this year. Fresh it up so my wife and I can go cruising. I wish it still had the original 454 and turbo 400. The original owner wanted to keep it, then later after my dad put in the 350 with turbo 350 long shaft trans, the original owner finally got around to tell my uncle he didn't want the 454/400 out of it my uncle was holding for him. Not sure what happened to it but we were not able to get it. :-(

OK, you know I’m teasing here… Where’s the paint?
I had an 80 Chevy diesel and it was a good rig. I probably would still have it but I had to get a 4wd truck just to get to work. The roads where I lived would turn into bottomless mud and some mornings I was lucky to make it with 4wd.

so i went out last weekend and put the starter on and got it started up it idled at like 1700 RPMS because the choke was messed up which means i need to replace the carb BUT, i jammed the choke open and it runs amazing. but before jamming it i putit in gear and immidiately drove it from its resting place to my buddies farm no brakes, high idle, no floor, seat unbolted, no passenger door, flat spotted tires, no lights(getting dark), slow moving sign on the rear bumper because it has no plates. almost caused 2 accidents broke down once passed two cops and had fun lol. it was a sketchy ride but it made it to his house no real issues. it drives pretty good actually if it had brakes and a door id daily it. i got the idle issue fixed then test drove it park decided it didnt wanna work so i tried reverse and it slid down a little hill into a cow pasture gate post and knocked the post down because it was super rotten didnt even hurt the truck. had to yank it out with my 93 chev and it came right unstuck and went right into another ditch lol. so pulled it down the road a little bit and then started it back up and drove it to its new parking spot. i got a "new" front passenger fender for er now i just need cab corners rockers inner fenders a bed probably another door because the new door i got was pretty bad too. all in all its going pretty well

the trucks were made by GM (GM owns Chevrolet GMC Buick Cadilac Pontiac ect ect) and square bodies are good solid trucks they generaly rust like that when they are in the north (up north everything rusts) when i find one down here thay are always in fairly good condition they are also some of the best looking trucks GM ever made

Truck updates! I cut the rust out of the way of the driver side cab mount and the cab mount is as holy as a swiss cheese factory so i half welded a peice of steel to the back part of the mount and bolted a support peice to the top of the rail in the cab then used a 2x4 and a big washer to support the cab support more so the cab now sits level again. And sold the driver door lol. The tailgate front fenders and hood are off the seats out and soon ill be pulling my cab

BIG updates I need to grab pics this week or today. But i got the junk bed pulled off and started cleaning the frame and its in perfect shape it needs the bumper brackets repaired some but overall the frame has no pitting or anything. I bought a gallon can of rustolem low gloss black heavy duty farm paint for the frame i should be able to get one or two coats brushing it on and anything hidden will be that color mechanically everything looks very solid underneath the font cab supports are really bad and it needs rockers otherwise the rest of the truck is in good shape i have doors and am looking for a pair of fenders and a new grille
