50-70 bucks is still quite steep to be honest... that 3PH you have there, is that actually made to class 0 spec or is it just for custom attachments?

That, my friends, is a tractor, way overpriced at 2k but still a really nice rig

Hmm... Ideas are brewing.  9hp Briggs vanguard from a generator. It runs well.  The generator somewhat grenaded and took out the outer windings.

I could:
  1. Make a mowkart using the tapered shaft. (I have the generator side too that I could use for a pulley or chain hub.)
  2. Get a vanguard 9hp crank without the taper and make a mowcart (sounds more $$)
  3. find someone to machine the crank.
  4. sit on the engine.

The cage I could:
  1. Make a utility trailer, the tank is good.  Needs a new bung. (i like what @alliskidd21 did here)
  2. sit on it
  3. scrap it.

If you decide to machine the crank, I heard of somebody that just centered the crank in a lathe, started the engine and used the lathe tools to machine it down. Should work pretty good.

If you put some casters on that generator cage you could make a pretty decent little shop cart there.

I like the idea of using the shaft that went into the generator, but I guess it depends on how close the crank or the generator shaft is to a common size and whether or not there is enough meat to cut the appropriate key way.

I've seen a couple of their videos and cringed so I won't watch anymore, maybe I just don't understand what all the hype is about but all I saw was some not so well thought out hackery happening!

Let me guess....fire up the motor and turn it down with an angle grinder? Lol. I'd do it if I had to and if I come across a basically junk motor that kind of runs I might actually try it just for $#!+$ and giggles!

Lmao! Man I love it when I'm right!  Lol. You know what though...with a steady hand, a good eye, alot of experience and knowledge with a grinder plus alot of patience I'm sure a decent job could be done. You'd want to get it somewhat close then clean it up with a file and finish it off with a sanding block/paper, fine emery cloth then some polishing compound. That's how I'd do it anyways, no clue about them and I don't care to find out!  Lol

This is exactly how I feel about Mighty Car Mods! Seasons 2 thru 5 were great with the low budget, diy, get a friend to help approach but then they really starting moving so far away from their roots with all the big dollar items/builds and fancy equipment that they were no longer those regular guys having fun.

As for C&C... just don't watch them for education unless it's to learn what not to do! Lol. (Based on what I've seen)

Sorry if that came across rough, I'm not mad at you, honestly you watch whatever you want to, I was just asking why you wouldn't just watch something else, sorry about that!

Well I've recently ran into an issue with the gas tank in my truck and need some input on what to do now. See about a month ago I noticed the gas tank was leaking around the sending unit which I thought was pretty crappy being the tank, the o-ring, and the lock ring are all new (I bought them all in 2019). The leak wasn't bad but it would weep when filled all the way up and it smelled like gas in the cab (the gas tank is behind the seat). I suspected that the o-ring was deteriorated because a lot of new rubber parts are made out of that California rubber but luckily enough I had ordered an extra o-ring and lock ring when I ordered the tank because I didnt know if it came with one or not.

So about a month ago I took the sending unit out, cleaned all surfaces, and put in the new o-ring and lock ring this time using some o-ring lube. After I did that it seemed to quit leaking but today I started to smell gas again so I checked and it's started to leak again! At this point I'm not sure what the culprit is or what to look for. I made sure to seat the lock ring all the way and I made sure that all the tabs are in the correct positions.

Any thoughts?

No return on that style?  Also, the cap unobstructed? Does the seat push on the fuel line when back?  Making a warp in the tank? Just throwing things as the wall to see if it sticks.

Any time I've been into the locking rings the upwards tangs had stops to well, stop from being able to turn the ring anymore, I can see one behind the fuel line and they are a bugger to get locked all the way I've never had one that didn't put up a fight and require several *explicit deletives* to get er done! Lol. I can see a locking tab in it's groove and no other grooves for it to go in but there seems to be space (circled) for the upward tangs to go further before hitting the stop(s), I can only see the one angle so it's hard to tell.

I'd look at the manufactures pictures of the tank and lock ring you got, compare to different manufacturers parts and original if possible to try and spot the discrepancy there's something up! The wrong flange could've ended up on the tank or there was possibly a mix up with packaging lock rings? All that stuff is made in factories with revolving door, temp agency, lower paying jobs now so there's alot more mistakes and poor QC.

I feel bad for you man this isn't a small thing it's kind of a big deal! Not that I see it making a difference but be sure you have a vented gas cap as well or you'll only make it X amount of miles before vacuum in the tank prevents the fuel pump from doing it's thing!

No return lines on these. Are you talking about the fuel cap? I'll check and see if the seat is hitting the fuel line, I dont think it is but if the seat adjustment nuts backed off then it might.
