moving on ! got the trans axel back in and one wheel painted and back on (before the paint could dry) I am impatient. I had planned to lock this transaxle but at this point i haven't had a chance to test drive this set up and see how it all pans out. so i'm going open for now and will decide on when and how i lock it later.

Got the chain hooked up for the first time. as you can see i put an idler on the slack side, didn't think i would need one on the pull side but i ran the engine to see how it would do and i'm getting some flopping around, so i ordered another gear and i'll put it between the current idler and where the steering shaft goes through. but that will be a good thing because as you can see the chain was right in the way of where the left bolt for the steering shaft bolts in.

Found a little time to get my other gear mounting bracket fabed up. and mounted as you can see in this first pic And then drilled for the new idler gear and got it installed. As you can see in this last pick, The angle iron is to weak for this much tension and is flexing. When i get time (which is very limited right now do to unforeseen circumstances) i have some thicker angle that will do the job. but it is 3x3 and will require some time to get it cut down, drilled and fitted.

@fbisurveilancevan i considered something like that or maybe square tube but it is already tricky getting the angle iron in and out of that tight space. i will revisit it when i get more time. but then again once it is up and running i shouldn't need to remove it in the future.

thanks everyone. a little update for those wondering. my wife has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer that is incurable as it started in her esophagus and made its way to her spine. we will be starting kemo thearpy to hopefully put it into remission, which will keep things at bay for awhile. Thanks !
