My entry for the 2022 build off Quality farm and country current plans : lock rear axle : fit Dixie chopper rear tires (seen in pic) : swap 14.5 for a 22 hp v-twin : foot throttle : cast iron front axle : custom shifter : front winch. : pulley swap : horn : front tires are yet to be sorted out
As this build is named Salvage. The plan is to build this from all parts i can salvage. i'm sure i'll have to spend some money but going to try to keep it as low as i can. will post anything i do have to buy like pulleys and what not.

Most likely does have a MST-205 but there is a chance that it’s a peerless 920 or something odd like that. There was a couple Murrays that came with those I believe.
I’ll be watching as well… I too have two builds on identical platforms.

making a bit of progress out with the old and getting things figured out to fit these big tires under the fenders. and hub fabricating, cut the centers out of the original rims and welded in some studs.

got the hubs all sorted out and dropped the diff brackets down 2 inches and back 1 inch. will have to do some fabricating to get those brackets and diff secure.

ok looks like to achieve my cast front axle i'm going to marry this JD front frame to the wide body. which will give me some length to the build which it needs And it fits like it was made for it. just slid into place here will need to do some pressure washing and some other fab work before i weld it into place

Hey i was thunkin about that today while wrenchin on my murray i relised how similar the john deere and murray frames where i kinda think JD copied the murray but im not sure. They arent the same just very similar
HA! That's pretty cool! Never thought about doing something like that... The only thing I see there that's not gonna work out without some bigtime mods is the hood but that's only cosmetic. I like that idea! Can't wait to see where this goes!

They are probably both made by MTD, wouldn't suprise me...
Actually neither were built by MTD. Murray is nowadays but this model Murray and John Deere were actually built decently because they were built when they weren't MTD owned.
@Budget_gokart not as close as you might think ! there's considerable differance between the two. the JD frame is wider so what worked out well is the inside of the JD frame lines up perfect with the out side of the Murray frame, so it gives me a good place to weld it together. @Murraymountain yah i've got a couple ideas on the hood which was going to be an issue anyhow since the whole thing tilts forward and im puttin a winch on it. so i can't wait to see where this go's ! lol

Got a bit of work done on the transaxle lowered it 2 inches and back 1 inch welded in some square tube to mount the brackets to. also got busy working on my shifter. i'm using the handle that was for the blade engaugement as my shifter. i had to cut down the shift selector shaft and drill and tap it then free hand cut it to a square. and make a new arm and rod to connect it. worked out good !

So i'm wondering if anyone has ran a chain to a counter shaft which will have a pulley to run to the rear end. which will let me use a shorter belt and should help prevent belt slippage. and make changing the belt easier ? i'm already in the process of doing it, just thought i'd see who else has done this. pics to come soon of what i've built, having issues loading pics right now.
