1973 Gilson S-10 Workhorse Restoration Build

Back in November 2020 i bought 2 parts Gilsons in one day for $50 each. Lots of off parts and the could both become runners with some TLS. Mainly bought them for if I was to roll my Montgomery Ward and have replacement parts . The next day I got a lead on a '73 Gilson S-10 for $100. Ran when parked. Had chains and a 38" Snowblower attachment. Now there's 4 of them sitting in the driveway. Not good. Needed something for snow due to the fact that the transmission went in the Polaris 800 and the farm tractor has been broken down for a while. Bought a pto belt, Snowblower belt, battery, tune up kit, and a Carburetor and its been doing great ever since. I'm happy with it and wish to restore it later this spring.

Wow. $100 for a tractor, chains and blower... What a find! What make and model is the power plant? Cool old tractors there. Can’t wait to see the old girl restored!

December 20th night of the big storm I was swap the 26x12x12 Super Swamper TSL on to the tractor and yhats when I realized these turfs with chains aren't 40lb tires. The previous owner have already loaded them down to almost 140lb each. I said scratch that idea. I went ahead and just reversed the rims to get a wider stance. Replaced the junk seat and did good. Didn't get good footage of it in action though.

He had it up for $150 got him talked down to $100. Pointed out all the stuff that would need done to it before it be runnable again from sitting. I thought $150 was a steal for a tractor with chains and a blower. Just a 4 hour round trip to get it. Its a '73 Gilson S-10 with a 10hp cast iron briggs. The 2 parts tractors are a '69 Gilson unknown model and the other is year unknown and model Gilson 15hp. Now the engine isn't original. Some one has thrown a late 70s or 80s 16hp briggs. Be neat to see if they will run. Since one of my part tractors has the set of tire chains with same tires and rims ill try to make it a Dually swap in the 16horse.

Duals would be awesome! That tractor seems like it’s almost begging for a stack with a flapper.
