No pics yet, but the ol lady’s a roller again! Got the driveshaft and dash removed and painted, touched up some rusty spots, and fought the front axle back in. Boy what a chore that was! Glad its done with lol. Now onto the bodywork…. Weather permitting….

Ay! Think I almost swallowed a cobweb on my way into this thread.
Anywho, I got the rear panels completely stripped of all old paint and powder coat. Might do the front end too, IDK. Going to hopefully put some phosphate solution and primer on tomorrow.
Trying to decide if I want to do the gray again or if I want to go with silver this time. Whites were silver for a while and it looks nice I think, and it’d be easier to keep clean and touch up.
I think if I work diligently I should be able to get this completed by the end of the month. In addition to the build off, I need her to plow my driveway! lol.

Well iam not familiar with these myself but what struck me is that it actually has some really nice lines compared to the ones I find online.
I guess that's due to the colour not showing it properly. If my advice means anything I'd go for a silver with a slight metallic in there as metallic will highlight the curves better

I thought about automotive paint, but the trouble is that it costs 60 bucks a quart minimum. I can’t really afford that now so I’m going to stick with spraying on the crust-lol-eum.

Welcome back to the land of turtles with wrenches! In today's episode, my phone died, and I didn't really feel like getting pictures, but the rear panels have all been shot in their first coat of primer. Tomorrow when I get home from work I'll be doing some bondo on the wavy bits that are rampant on the sheet metal and the pitting down in the pan.
I also went and painted the transmission control panel in silver. I really like the results, so we're doing silver on the body panels.
I also got some gold lettering for the name tag on the rear fender pan the other day.
So the question is, worth a name change to "Silver Stallion," or do you guys like White Lightning better?
It was 60 degrees yesterday and today up here...unheard of for mid november. I was running a spray gun in a T shirt thinking "Boy, something ain't right with this weather!" Not that I'm complaining or anything... lol.

Welp I’m still plugging away at a snail’s pace. The body panels have all been primed and are ready for a coat of silver tomorrow.
The sad news is that y’all probably can tell that I ain’t going to have this thing running in 4 days, so I’m probably going to have to declare myself DNF on this. Sorry everyone!

All you need for it to be "complete" and eligible for voting is running, driving, steering and stopping with all controls "remote" (hooked up via controls). As long as it will drive long enough to make a short video you won't be DNF, you can do it! Look at how far away from my goals I am but am still "complete" as per the rules
Well 1 day and 2 ish hours left...going to be a very tight squeeze here. I have the motor back in, the factory bird's nest of half destroyed wiring thrown in, and the hood and nose back on cause why not. Almost looks like a tractor! I think if I push hard tomorrow I can probably make it, but it's going to be close. I'll be at work all day and then I'm going to be attending some calling hours in the evening so I won't have a massive amount of time to work-however, I really just need to hook up a battery and gas tank and the driveshaft, and we're good to go! Pics will be in tomorrow morning once i get them all squared away.

Welp ole Stevie wonder came by and did some painting today. It’s…okay. Ish.
Fore everybody calls me a dummy over the runs in my defense this is my first time spraying metallics, plus in a single stage, out of a 15 dollar spray gun, also in 50 degree weather. The silver also means that determining where the fan ends and begins is super difficult. Fortunately that and the crap that got stuck in the left hand fender should come out with a wet sand and polish.
Probably should have shot em in dark grey but hey, I ain’t never been called a bright bulb! Lol.

I wouldn't worry too much about the paint, because it's fresh you should be able to sand the runs then respray and blend it in. It's definitely best to get familiar with new guns and paints by practicing on other stuff. A little tip a fella gave me years ago about laying down metallic paint with a HVLP is to put a 5/16" or 3/8" STAINLESS STEEL nut in the cup to help stir it up as you shake it between passes to keep the flakes suspended in the paint... seems to work like a charm I'm happy to say!
HVLP guns are the bomb! I think everyone needs one. Easier to use, easier to clean. Just need a good regulator setup.
Everybody has their screw ups with paint... me and my boss got into a fight with an ancient rattle can the other day, and when I sprayed my horizontal mill there was so much overspray that just about everything in my shop was coated. Well, still is. I can still tell what tools were out and where they were on the floor that day....
