[DNF][2020 Build-Off Entry] Rally Deere Build

Well I’m finally back with my new 2020 build off entry. It’s a John Deere 165 hydro that Im gonna be making into a rally mower for off-roading and also for driving on the streets. My main goal with it is to be able to hit 50mph on it. So far I’m planning on lowering it with a live axle and putting a Race prepped peerless 700 In so I can still have low end torque for trail riding. I’m gonna put either 16 or 18 inch ag tires on the rear and knobby tires on the front. For my front end I’m going to make lower spindles that will mount onto the original axle. I’m hoping to use the stock steering since there’s barely any slop in it and it’s also fully adjustable. For the engine I plan on using the 20hp intek v twin on the black tractor. For engine mods I’m just gonna do a bigger exhaust and an open air intake

well im starting the build, ive got it stripped down in my basement and im starting to work on making the clutch and mounting the engine. i have an engine that im gonna sell soon and once that is gone im gonna go and buy the live axle and the rest of the rear end. im hoping tonight to be able to get the dash mounts notched to fit the exhaust

Got the throttle set up on the v twin, also started to do a direct steering setup for it but I was having problems with roll over on steering shaft arm, how can I fix this? Also ordered my whole rear end setup so I hope to have that put in soon. Anybody have any opinions or input on this build?

What do you mean rollover? Is an arm camming over and locking up?

If this is the case, just weld in some steering stops to limit travel so it doesn’t “roll over”

You can either add steering stops on the axle or on the steering arm itself so it comes over and hits the axle. Just as long as it's heavy duty enough to not bend too bad or break off. I've used bolts before.

Well I got the rear axle In and finally got the chance to do a mock-up on it. I’ve gotta send the tires back since the beads are messed up
All I have left to do is
•center rear axle
•mount engine
•mount trans
•get new tires put on
•repaint rims
•mount clutch
•front tires
•repaint body
And a few other things but this thing is looking closer to completion

Plans have changed and now I’m gonna lower this thing to the ground and speed it up

nice how are you going to speed it up

So this things pretty much been sitting, I stole the engine from it for the craftsman. But I managed to get the front axle in, still need to make the spindles. This is probably going to end up being a winter project
