Gotcha...  As long as the cracks are shallow and it was still stretchy not to tear when mounting them. You should be good.

been working on the paint etc slow process.......

decided to weld up these two holes on the hood, pushed some bolts thru, welded them up and ground them off. have a few to do on the seat as well..... smoothed it out with some bondo tonight right before i posted this.

doing something like this, welding a stud to a plate then welding it to the frame..... have to do the other side still.....

lots of paint work going on, the rims are all painted, as soon as I get the front tires stuff is going to start coming together.

Had a tough time getting IH red paint, anyway finally got the hood done, my front tires should be here soon... still tons of small stuff to get done, wiring, belts pulleys, dash work, seat pan etc. Might need to make an air cleaner adapter type thing.

I am cutting all the mower lever, pto type stuff off the machine just to make it a little cleaner looking.

my front tires are in, gotta get everything mounted up this weekend... just dont have them on now because im afraid they are gonna get messed up..

How much were they? Get 'em off Ebay? I gotta buy some for the MM eventually.

deestones on ebay, they were only 50 bucks, probably the only "new" item I have bought for this tractor, except the spray paint cans... haha.

tires are mounted up, starting too look like something now.....

You did a great job on cutting the hood to fit the oppey. Ag's all the way around looks killer too.

Hood mod looks great with the new paint! That engine looks HUGE in there on that horse. You going to paint the frame and steering tower too?

yeah I am gonna try and do as much as i can so it matches, I am not a big fan of sanding and painting these days because of how long it takes.  I kind of originally wanted the sunbaked old paint but it just didnt work out....

having a hard time scraping off that original grip tape stuff....

My original air cleaner was too big to close the hood, so I am making one out of the original tecumseh air cleaner & this funky spinny looking thing...

That part of the dash is cast aluminum, so i have been contemplating keeping it with a brushed look, we will see.....

I had to use Heat to get my old grip tape up.

Nice air filter.  Those old oppys do look good with a smaller breather cover..

I actually kinda like the original type cover, but in this case, I think a round one would be better.

you guys that rattle can, I am very dissatisfied with the look of the paint, its glossy, flat and not very even... Should I sand it down with some fine grit? Should i use a buffing wheel to even it out? I dont like the way it looks?

Old can?  Not shaken enough?  Painted some then came back later?  2 different cans?

I have that happen sometimes when I change to a new can.  I have a small spot on Red now.  I think I can polish mine out.  Yeah easiest would be to rough it up and hit it all at once again and in straight lines where possible.

Is this what you used? This is what I painted my Murray with. It really didnt like humitidy to much and I found it best to spray rather heavy coats. Also I noticed a slight color difference between cans

I Tried to be even but it depends how the light hits it to how funny it looks... I think I really need to wet sand and buff the paint to make it even looking. Some spots are smoother than others so the paint laid different I guess. I used the same can for the whole thing...

I wet sanded down the paint with 600 and will paint evenly one more time again, then I am going to wet sand and buff it....


yesterday I cut off the rest of the mower levers etc. to clean it up....

in my experience rattle cans can be temperamental some brands work better than others sometimes it's best to experiment with a few different ones to find what works the best.
