The Jake Off-Road Build

Hey everybody, I thought I would make a build thread for the first time. This is my Jacobsen YT14



These are some of the modifications so far:

-20" ag tires in the rear and snowblower tires in the front
-Dual straight pipes
-Custom front bumper with 1000lbs winch
-Modified front spindles
-Hydro trans swapped out for 3 speed high and low range Foote transaxle
-Other small things like rewire,hood hold down etc...











That's everything so far, here are a couple pictures of the tractor itself:

Same winch that's on the front of the GT6000.  Figures as much.

I've never heard of that transaxle.  Where did you get it from?

Not sure the model but it came out of a Jacobsen lawn tractor similar to this one.

I think those transaxles are also in the MTD GT tractors

MTD has their own hi/lo trans. I saw a hi/lo foote in a ariens on facebook once.

I like it! Very aggressive looking, low sitting tractor

Thanks, I'm kinda going for that low off-road/rally mower look!

I decided to make a new bumper for the Jacobsen and this is how it went!












There that's the new bumper for the Jake.Tell me what you guys think!

Looks pretty good! You forgot to post pictures with the winch mounted up though.

Nice bumper! Do you have a link to the fronts? They look really fancy, and I've never seen any fronts like them. They remind me of bear claws a little.

Kind of a funny thing about this tractor....... I now own it!





Haha yep, Mr. MudSnake here has unfortunately lost interest in the hobby, so today I purchased both his tractors for a whopping $25. The Yard Machines got stripped of any useful parts and became another ghost in the tractor scrap yard, but I have some big plans for this ol' Jake!

Possible 2020 Build-Off entry......?

Oh heck yeah!....

I kinda like the look of the grill on this thing. Something a bit different. And the rounded corners and those slight bulges on the sides give it a sorta sleek look.

Thanks fellas, yeah the hood on this unit it super sleek and mean looking, one of the reasons I always liked this tractor.

Anyhow, since I only just bought it, I took it out for a bit of wheeling to figure out what I need to change:







Definitely some work needed for it to suit the kind of riding I like to do, but it's still a fun machine for now! Kinda surprised how good the ol' oppy was running with that old gas in it, haha.

That's all for now. Hopefully this will become a Build-Off project next year!
