| Hey guys, I picked up this generator with a 10 horse Chinese clone of a yanmar L100. I was told the generator works, and the engine kinda runs but I think the injector timing is a little off. Anyway, I’d like to get this thing running and I know quite a few of you have messed with these things a lot, so I figured we could pool information here on these engines. Here are the symptoms of this particular engine. It turns over fine but will not run with the compression release open. While it’s turning over I flip the compression release closed an it fires once but it almost fires backwards because it kicks so hard. My hypothesis is that the injector timing is advanced a little and it’s trying to ignite too early. Am I on the right track? Pic! | |

| I know where it’s posted. I was hoping that there would be lots of good information on these engines as well as the solution to this problem, that’s all | |

| Oh ok. Did someone reply or were you saying ahead of time? I only saw yours. Feel free to delete this one once you’ve seen it to save space in this tech thread.
Anyway, lots of pictures and information welcome. What does everyone know about these things? | |

| Hmmm, your theory on the timing being too advanced makes sense, but I would think the only way that could happen was if someone had the little pump out and removed a shim or what have you. | Yeah I believe they are. Also I wouldn't think they would wear down as they just simply go between the pump and the block sorta like a gasket would. | Here's a pic of mine. 6hp Lifan Diesel. Are you sure the kicking back is not just the high compression of these engines? If you push the de compression lever down, the pull it over, it should release once it hits TDC. You need to pull it over really hard to get it past that point or it will kick back and take your arm back with it. Maybe try spraying WD 40 or similar in the air intake to see if it fires properly. | |

| It has electric start, and even that wouldn’t do it. Eventually we got it kinda running but it ran really rough and smoked a bunch. Not sure if that’s because it sat for so long or what. I’ll update it once I play with it a little | |
