the Zinc locker Vid I had seen. Time will tell how long spicer will hold up. I do'nt really think it will last forever. The Original Spicer bomb AKA the original zinc locker trans is very alive and well. It spent an entire winter plowing my driveway in MMM. It then lived a very over worked underpaid summer in my 18HP go kart Hauling brush every other weekend. From there it has ended up in 2 other machines as a loner till they could get an MST with better gears. Now Hands down a Doc locker with full bearing install is way better. But this is a Spicer and other then a buck or 2 of propane this locker is free to make and entirely reversible at any point in time.

| I was going to say, if you didn't want to buy an axle or weld. The zinc locker would be the great way to go. Just no place for play in that gear. As others mentioned that does put the weak point on the case and that is only if you have a lot of jumping and bouncing of some sort. (same weakness for those that weld the gears together fearless style) Any activity to make the case want to "V" in the middle. (Rider weight has a bit to do with it too ) If MMM's other one lasted (still is), I don't see any reason this one would not last too! It's all a matter of how much you abuse your stuff. | |

I’m trying to remove the 2nd gen steering box from a parts tractor I have, how would I go about doing that? Because the arm on the pivot below the frame won’t fit through the hole in the frame It fits but you have to have it turned just right. If your looking at it in your hand and think of a clock face. Set the pivot center of face the rest as 6ock then turn the arm to 9ock. It drops in arm first then turn whole unit flat as it bottoms out. Removal turn arm to to point opposite side of brake then flip up steering box like you are opening a book to that side and pull straight up.

| The basic plan at this point is to loosely bolt the engine in place then decide on the shock tower and cross beam. The Stock lights on a craftsman suck so I plan to bug eye it with some Auxbeam 4inch pods. Should be a full week of rain for me so garage work is finally on the table and time to break out the welder and grinder. | |

| Ahh. Looks interesting. I just do'nt think the connection between the box steel and the stock axle is the sturdiest, it could break probably.
The Front Tire Upgrade is cool! Is the ride smooth, or really rough with them? Probably will buy the same tires

That pic he showed you from early on showing the dual I beam I believe the stock axle ends were just stuck on at that time. Not welded. If you look at the more recent image. - Quote :
You can see the 2 square tubes welded together make up the whole opening to the stock axle giving more surface welding making it stronger than that first images appears.

I'm sure if anything breaks @Maine Mud Mower will show it us in his Vids. I will go for a reinforced stock axle in my build.
