Was having my doubts as to whether the oppy would fit. Tried it both ways, which way do you guys think I should go with?

I literally just set the engine where it would sit in these pictures. When I mount it I plan to have it up about as high as I can get.

RichieRichOverdrive's Snapper LT18RS [2018 Build-Off Entry] - Page 2 20180339

I think if I do it this way, the exhaust would be a whole lot easier
RichieRichOverdrive's Snapper LT18RS [2018 Build-Off Entry] - Page 2 20180340

And a general sort of loose mockup.
RichieRichOverdrive's Snapper LT18RS [2018 Build-Off Entry] - Page 2 20180341

Still a lot of uncertainty with this rig. Hardest part is making the front axle and steering, and that's what I've been thinking on for so long. Might just throw the stock axle in and get everything else located, maybe then it'll be just easier in general so I don't have to work around things that aren't there.

Direct was pretty much the plan, but I'm not really sure now. Could go with the snapper setup like I have in mutt. Plus the reduction would make her a lot less jumpy at speed.

Don’t do direct man, I know you can build or find some kind of a steering gear.

Definitely put the heads out the side.

Sideways could look cool, but I think it looks better and you have more room the normal orientation.

Sideways does look cool, but the hood already has those neat flared out parts to accept it sitting transversely so I'd say go for that, haha.

Looking good Rich! I think the oppy looks better with the heads out of the side, especially as the hood is designed to accommodate the engine sitting that way.

I see you guyses logic on this, guess I'll put it in the "correct" way lol.

I think today I'll at least get the engine mounted. Gotta locate a holesaw for putting a hole in the engine plate for the crank.

Square holes mean rough edges, good way for cracks to start.

I would have to agree that using a hole saw would be a much better option. No sense taking out more of the frame material than neccessary, plus it would look a lot nicer.

Maybe use 2 .25 plates with a gap in the middle.  LOL Like I did on the squatch.

I might actually have to to that mighty. This engine mount plate won't let me change the oil easily, unless I turn the engine sideways. I can't flip it upside down because of ridges in it.

I know the feeling, sometimes you just have to think outside the box. Good that you are looking ahead to things like oil changes.

I honestly usually think ahead like that to be responsible and whatnot but I never that stuff, unless I absolutely have to (like if the oil is full of gas lol). I have no intentions of changing the oil filter on mutt, but I still made the exhaust so I could get it out lol!

Hey Build-off Participant!

Just doing a sanity check to see if there are any new updates!  "Nothing new to update." is and update!  Just making sure everything is OK since you have not posted in a while.
