Yeah I was thinking of that too, however I think that its just as hard as cutting a slot into the hub as opposed to cutting it in come collars.

Yeah I was planning on restoring that old sears craftsman but I didn't have room, time, or what I needed to do so. It didn't even have an engine.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Tomorrow I will weld the rear axle mounts in place. I bought bolts for the front wheels today. What size should the King Pin bolt be? is 1/2" too small? Also, is it ok that My rear axle is wider than my front will be. I don't think there's much I can do about it at this point but I was just curious.

How much wider is the rear and the front?

I'd go with a 5/8 kingpin, that's a common go-kart size. 

Are those the shaft collars you made?  They look good.

I would just take some time and patience and file a keyway into your sprocket hub.  You have nothing to loose so it won't hurt to try it.

Thanks. I made a dozen lock collars. I don't think I will need them all but I have them. I will do a 5/8 kingpin I will just have to drill the holes at school because I only have a 1/2 inch bit. I started filing away at the hub but it is so wide it is hard to keep the file in. It will take lots of patience. The rear end is 41 and 3/4 from the outside of the tires and I have not made the front end yet but I cut the axle to 25 inches and that's without the tires. With the tires and king pin ect.. I figure adding about 8 inches on each side with the stuff which would put me at 41 inches and that's fine but if it ends up being way narrower like 5 inches narrower than the back is that bad?

I think if it ended up 5 inches narrower than the front that would actually give it a cool rat rod stance.  I don't think it would have a bad affect on handling in this situation.

Ok Thanks. Originally I actually wanted the stance and I had an axle that was more than 5 inches longer. I decided to shorten it a bit though.

Welded in the rear axle today. I hope its not too crooked lol. I guess I will just figure out when I test it but it will be hard to re do it. I decided to go for a mat black on the frame and everything and leave the original orange on the hood, bucket and sorta orange on the tank. I think it will look kinda neat. I have to start figuring out the front axle now. I am not too sure what to do because if I do it how I planned to I will have a tilted frame. Also added some strength to the front of the frame.

Those bearing mounts look pretty good! With those gussets and stuff it should be pretty sturdy.

I sure hope so. A lot of weld went into those haha.

All the small works you not really see, but are important for a quality build that lasts, are costing much time and work.

It's pretty easy to square your axle up with the frame while you're tacking it in place. Those bearings mounts are extra strong.

Yeah I thought I had squared it very good but then i welded it all in to realize that my frame it self was a few degrees off. Oh well.

Hmmmmmm.... our home country living grain mill has got me thinking... It's a 12" pulley with a 1/2 bore that I could easily be drilled out to 1" for the engine. It's only 50$... And it's cast so I think it would be strong enough.
