I was doing some thinking and some states have noise and spark arrestor requirements. While I have no idea on spark arresting, the ATV muffler definately "toned" it down. I went ahead and combined the 2 exhausts into one and added an ATV muffler.
I'll probably move the oil drain to the other side on the next oil change. We'll see how this works out.

This is quite the development here. That's some pretty good handy work with the pipe to make a 2 into 1 exhaust. I haven't seen that before. Sounds good even with the spark arrestor installed. Sounds like an atv with it in and a throaty old tractor with it out. How is it on the ears?

--previously-- *Peerless 2300 series LOCKED *Looking into possibly 3 link front suspension. *Small shocks for the axle *New Treads front and Back *New lighting, still winging that one. *Installing 18HP Opposed Briggs *Building front offroad bumper
Hopes: *wench *maybe a skid plate of sorts. * and more...

I have been doing some thinking about my ride on the weekend.
1. Need to fix the one weld break. (Shock brace meets bumper on the right side) Brace and reweld. 2. As much as the twin exhaust sounds.... I think I am going to change up the exhaust with a muffler. After about 20 minutes, the coolness wore off and got old. 3. Add a horn. 4. Figure out some kind of brace for the steering. Adding the socket universal added some steering shaft play. (Not steering play)
EDIT:
5. Longer shocks? Need a little more flex.
OK, half way checklist look back.

10 of 14 items complete.
EDIT, I also took apart my starter today and cleaned and lubed it up. MUCH better now. Doesn't grind or take many amps to turn the engine.

So I am getting a little wishy washy about the exhaust. I may revisit that again. Building a brace for the steering. Its a slow process due to the heat, but Its going. Looks like we may cool down in about a week for a little while.
I also have some good steel plate that I can chop up to maybe make a couple skid plates. I have an a-frame/Gantry Crane (not sure what you could call this one) that I can have at my in-laws. That will make some underneath work a lot easier. I'll probably bring that home in a few weeks.

I'm going to back away for a few weeks. I've done nothing but screw it up today. Messed up the mount point for my steering brace, but found out I welded the universal back on crooked the other day and if I add this brace will only put more stress on that point.
I have also chopped off my exhaust and I am not happy with the progress on that.

How far back did you cut off the exhaust? I hope you know pipe fittings are reeeaaaalllllyyyyy bad for flow, or performance of any sort. And there's nothing wrong with stepping a way for a bit. Sometimes it takes a bit for solutions to formulate on their own.
I've been motivated today so I decided to go ahead with some work on KAL then I will back off again. I am going back to duals. Just not the same way. Oh.... and Rich will be happy. No gas pipe involved. LOL.
ps, cooler air and changing the radio station does help a lot with the thinking.

If youre riding it lots, don't do stacks, or bring ear plugs.
Yeah, I ended up getting rid of the stack on one of my garden tractors due to noise levels. I even had the top above my head. Helped but headaches galore!
Little teaser for now.

I really love the sound of my Exhaust, on the MTD. It sounds awesome, you can hear the load and the strokes pretty good, but it's nor much louder than the stock exhaust, only a few DB I think and it's a deep tone, so you never get headache from that!
