What are those hubs you are using for the front wheels? Did you make them? Buy them?

They are hubs from a previous project I had.

I replaced the 5/8 bearings with 3/4 and to fit on a standard tractor spindle, I cut off about 1/4 of an inch off the back. I would have preferred the front side, but it was easier at the time for the back side.

OK nice, so just the stock retainer clip keeps everything on

The motor looks brand new, you detail it with a tooth brush?

I did clean the block itself with a brush to check for oil leaks after changing out some gaskets.  The tins, I have repainted 2 times since I got the engine.  It has 1 leak and that is the oil plug cap itself.  I plan on replacing when I change oil before installing on the frame.  I would like to get it running one more time before I get it installed.  Just need some gas line and fuel cutoff and filter.  But those are easy purchases.

Been doing a lot of mental planning and prepping the past week.  I have come across a couple hurdles that I need to figure out.

1)  The dash supports will be in the way, will need to relocate them.  Should not be too bad.

2)  I need to see if I still have some old OPPY head tins.  The ones on this engine have that part to deflect muffler heat from the intake.  For my build, that isn't really needed for my setup and it is in the way.  If I do not have my old tins, I guess I will need to trim these up to fit.  The part mentioned is the part circled in green.  I will see if it is absolutely needed to be removed, before trimming.

Looks like I kept the old tins.  YIP YIP...



They need a lot of cleaning.

Thanks man, I have work this weekend, but hope to get a few things done.

I have some stuff laid out now to do some building again.  I hope to start working the front end a bit.  I would like to get it sitting without jack stands and get the motor moved over to the frame.  Once the motor is on the frame, I can start redoing the dash supports and then start working on a final steering solution.

I was doing some suspension planning. This is by no way where this link will be attached. And I have the lock nut on the wrong side.  Biggest thing i was looking at was will it get in the way of steering.
I do not think so.

LOL, I am hoping this will be my new PRIMARY working machine. I hope to maybe hand down Red and see if I can get the Wife involved in playing. Definitely not working on this one with the feverish pace as last year where I was done by July 4. I do hope to finish Sept while it is still warm out for my completion video.

I would like to get the front axle attached this weekend, but the weather is not cooperating. It was like 75 today and going to be around 83 tomorrow. Saturday is like 32-33 and snow possibilities. Ugh, 3rd week in a row this has happens. Too bad my weekday evenings are booked up.

Do you have three of those 3pth center links mighty? If so that'd be nice, I imagine they'd be plenty heavy enough. The middle link would have to be shortened as well, but that wouldn't be too hard to do.

Right now I have 2.
They adjust between 13in to 18in. They are CAT 0. I didn't get the center link yet as for some reason the shorter one was $10 more. I am waiting for payday.

Ah, I see. The adjustability will be nice to have, that way you can set your axle caster.

Those and a seat hopefully are the biggest $$ items I have to put into the build. I believe they were $20 at Tractor Supply. The link I did not get was about $34?! and it was just 3 inches shorter. Go figure. They had cheaper, but I liked these because of the jam nut.

Minor update, got the the pulleys for the clutch today.  That flat idler seems smaller than 5/8 bore for my   reducer. Freezing them for insertion tomorrow.  All I need now is the engine pulley.  I am still debating between a 6 and a 7 inch pulley.  I'm leaning 7.

The new pulleys are the exact same size as the old. Angle is an illusion on the flat idler.

I recall that you freeze a shaft to shrink it and warm up a bearing to expand it to put it on the shaft.  What exactly are you freezing?

The reducer so it will slip in the pulley easier.  So I can reduce the 5/8 bore down to 1/2.  Yeah, I heated the old pulleys up to slip them out.

Well I got some work done today..  Ran over to the TSC and got my 3rd link.  Didn't realize that one of my long links was a different grade than the others.  Oh well.  Also got me one piece of square tube.


Made me up a bracket for the shocks.





Here is her stance.  A little nose up without the engine.  I expect the same.  I think it will be pretty cool looking!



Stood the frame up on it's rear to weld on some link ears to the bottom.



Making some mounts on the front axle for the links.  Still have the center and the panhard mount to go on both the mower and the axle.

Aw yeah, suspension stuff!! Haha, looks good mighty! Gonna have to make the axle center link mount stick up from the axle a little bit maybe when you go to make it. Hope your back feels better as well.

Yeah.... I have that figured out. It will stick up.  I just have to cut some more angle to do them.
