I like the way the exhaust dumps out the hood like that.  Reminds me of a gasser. How do you like romping with the straight pipes dumping right there.  It must be nice romping some where with no neighbors around.

Thanks Carl, haha. Actually not bad at all from the seat, it kinda points down and it's no where near head level which seems to help a lot.

Well since I did the Y-link setup I never actually tuned up the radius arms, adjusting the length and caster angle, etc,  so I figured I'd tackle that.



After adjusting the upper and lower links on the right hand side I got a solid measurment from the frame mount to the front of the axle:





22" on either side give or take an 1/8", that's pretty good by me! I did a bunch of romping around and the oil temp gauge got up to 180° F which seemed pretty good, considering it was just over 80° F outside today. Nice to know she's not getting too hot after a good run.



Definitely happy with how she's performing now.

She looks good! Now how about painting some rims? Haha

He should just paint the rims brown to match the mud he never washes off.

That's the protective layer of mud that holds it all together carl, us americans aren't progressive enough for such things.

You guys, haha. But yeah, the rear rims will get painted when I re-paint the whole deal this summer.

Yep, same colour and everything. It's just that I did a pretty bad job on the fenders so a lot of it is flaking off.

Looking good AK!  You'll need to come up with something that says MTD on the hood again.  I kind of miss the yard machine with MTD written on it.

Put a sweet black MTD writing on the red hood if you repaint it.

Yeah I might give that a try, maybe I'll paint something on the hood sometime before I re-paint it and see if I like anything. We'll see, haha.

Well I decided to finally rig me up a rear bumper on this thing, so I no longer have to rely on the fender for backing into stuff. Haha.


Just figured I'd kinda do something basic but functional.

Got a bracket made up:



Then some horizontal pieces and the bumper beam:



Turned out pretty nice. I added a couple support pieces then gave it some paint:





Should be good! But then after some wheeling and a couple transaxle hits I decided a skidplate was also in order.

Started out with a lawn tractor foot board that I cut and bent to fit around the transaxle nice:



Then after a lot of cutting out little pieces of steel/rebar, and some welding, this is what I got!





Turned out pretty nice! Should be heavy enough with all the stuff welded in it.

Got it all bolted up:





I can put a trolley jack uder there and lift the whole back of the tractor of the ground by the skidplate, so hopefully that means it's pretty good. Haha.

Oh, and I threw some paint on it too just so it didn't turn into a rusty mess.



Should be good! Those two things kinda give me some more peace of mind, which is nice. Haha.

Hey, can you make me one of those skid plates.. LOL I bounced the transaxle something fierce last weekend when I was tolling about their land. Hit a hidden stump, stopped me cold. Nice bumper to boot as well!

I can make one for ya, but it will only fit my MTD. Hope that won't be an issue. LOL. Thanks Mighty! Yeah I'm definitely happy to have a couple less things to worry about smashing up, haha.
