Craftsman GT 6000 Build

Looks nice, should work great.

Pretty slick design to utilize that u-bolt.  Looks like your wire feed speed might be a tad high.  I usually put that to the second to lowest setting.

Thanks fellas. Yeah I noticed it was laying down a lot of material so I turned the wire speed down a bit for the other side and it turned out much better.

So today I did my grille support and hood pins. Not sure if I've mentioned it but I've been wanting to do those things for a bit, haha.

For the supports I just found some nice small tubing, cut it to length, and pounded the ends flat.





3/8" bolts welded in the grille tubes and holes drilled in the support bars for them to slide over.



Then I just welded washers on the other ends and bolted them to the dash brackets.



Both bolted up!



Looks fairly nice woth a bit of flat black on it.



Then just wing nuts to hold the hood down.



I like it! Nice to have the hood held down for once, haha. Grille seems a lot stronger too, you can push the tractor by the grille and it seems fine. I'll assume that means it's good, haha. Let me know what ya think!

Thanks Mighty! They haven't come loose so far when I tighten them by hand fairly snug, but I figured if it becomes an issue I can maybe drill holes through the bolts just above the wing nuts and run a cotter pin though. That would work well I'd think.

Well Carter and I had the tractors out and hit some mud today, had lots of fun for sure and I took some real neat pictures.









I really like the last two in the nice green hay field, haha. She handled everything pretty good today! Didn't break anything but I noticed the nuts on my leaf spring bolts loosened up a tad. No big deal, just gonna douboe nut them probably, haha.

Those last two might just be banner material. Looks like a good time man! Vid soon?

Haha, thanks CQ. It sefinitely was a good time but unfortunately I didn't get much on video. Might take a few off-road clips I have saved up and make a mini compilation thing sometime soon, haha.

I was thinking that as well. OK to save them for the Summer vote?

Well thanks a bunch fellas, haha. I know the grille wasn't exactly a "fan favorite" when I first did it, but with the new tires, bumper, etc I think it actually does look kinda cool. Haha.

Well judging by these pictures you'd think "GT" stood for "Greenery Terminator"





Hahaha. Yeah me and Carter decided to make a bit of a trail in the woods, so we just used the GT to push over the small trees and such. I definitely put it through much more abuse than it has ever seen before, but everything held up just fine! Pretty nice to know that she can handle some work, haha.
