The Fuel-Shut off on my tractor was giving me some problems,
then the terminal snapped off.

So we decided to bypass it completely. Turns out an old drag link ball joint from an MTD has the same threads as the solenoid.

Doesn't leak and it runs and starts great!

I would've taken a somewire cutters and just cut the needle, but that works too! Nice!

I see your oppy has the voltage regulator rather than a diode, I'm kinda jealous of that lol

I'd cap off that wire or something to keep that wire from grounding out. It does have power! I'd probably get rid of it too!

Yeah we wrapped a couple layers of electrical tape around it, its the red wire tucked in behind the voltage regulator.

I got an 04 Troybilt "Super Bronco" with a 21hp v twin. The guy I got it from said it started smoking when he tried to start it... turns out it was that dumb solenoid. Melted the plastic out of the solenoid, melted the plug...

I robbed the bowl bolt from another brigs carb. I think its a 5/16 fine thread bolt.

Yeah those solenoids can be a pain.

On another note I think the coil is dying on this engine. If it gets up to operating temperature and is shut off, it will not even try to fire until like a half hour cooling down period.

Had to tow him to the barn when he shut the tractor off up at the house:
