MTD off-road build (Mobile Terrain Dominator) "1"

Couldn't you cut a bit out there and kinda drop the whole thing down some? I think you'd have room for your stock fuel tank then. Looks good though, I could use something like that lol. Sometimes my steering skips if i ram the wheels up against something or try to turn against something.

Thanks man! Yeah I thought about dropping down through the frame, but it would've run right into the belt, So I decided to save myself the headache haha.

Anyways, PROGRESS!!





The all-thread isnt all thats holding it in, theres a bracket behind the steering box welded to the dash tower. Two bolts pass through the box and the bracket to hold it in, I just couldnt get a picture of it very good hahaha.

I welded my steering arm to the underside of the spindle.





I should be able to use my original drag link without modification, HA can't beat that! It doesnt hang as low as it looks in the picture. So now i just have to fab up a pitman arm
and possibly brace the box bracket a bit more. Let me know what ya think!

Dope. Any idea on how many turns for the steering wheel?

Nice upgrade. Real easy to turn plus no bump steer. Only bad thing is it is not self centering when you turn so you have to turn the wheel back straight.

Thanks prancstaman! It is gonna be a bit of a workout turning the wheel back to center all the time, but I'll get used to it probably hahaha. But like you said, easy to turn and no feedback to the wheel!

I still gotta make the lower buckets and a panbard rod, but she bounces pretty good right now! Hahaha! Hopefully I'll get it finished tomorrow,

I got my lower buckets done today! I'm pretty much done the suspension now, I just have to add a panhard bar so my axle stops walking and it shoukd be good to go.







These are the lower coil buckets. And of course I had to try some flex!









Not too bad! The most I got out if it was 10" from the bottom of the tire to the ground. Any more and the one coil will fall out of the buckets, but 10" is good enough for me!

And lastly, I welded my bumper to the frame. It was just bolted on the the underside of the grille before so it was kinda piss poor. But now I can stand on the bumper and it doesnt hurt a thing!

I got my new fuel tank today, and I think she's gonna fit just fine!





I just need to made a bracket or tray or something for it and we should be good to go!

Came out pretty good. Small chain works pretty good for limit straps and looks cool too. A quick axle locator instead of a panhard bar would be- In front of the axle there on the frame, weld in a rod that goes down in front of the axle. Then on the axle weld in 2 prongs that keep the rod in between. Just a thought.

Thanks prancstaman! That idea with the two prongs would probably work. Its funny cuz thats what I was gonna do when I had the coils in front of the axle because there wasnt enough room for a panhard, hahaha. We'll have to see which will be easier to fab up haha!

Well I did a bit more upgrading on the suspension on this ol' girl today. I decided to replace the outer links with more heavy duty ones.

Should be an improvement over the old links I would think.

Anyhow I got my new fuel tank mounted and hooked up to the carburetor. It runs good with the fuel tank mounted where it is now so its not too low or anything. I forgot to take any pictures of it but I'll get them tomorrow hahaha.

The MTD is becoming quite the machine. Nice mods!

No panhard or limiting straps? Wow! I would've had a pretty bad wreck already if i was running mine like that! Looks good though! I should really get looking for some motorcycle shocks, lol

Thanks Rich! Well I didnt really take 'er for a joy ride. I just putted around in first gear for a little bit. I need to make a panhard of some sort soon though haha.
