| Thanks. They are sold as a pair for motorcycles/ATV's ect. But with 12.5" length, they're really only big enough for mopeds and maybe small motorcycles I would think. I forget what they said they were rated for, 200 some pounds I think. They'll probably be tipped inward just behind the grill. We'll see where everything goes. I have the second rear rim painted now, just need to mount the tire and then I'm ready for starting on the frame this weekend. | |

| I was planning on doing something like that, but I think I'm going to use part of the sears frame and then once I have it connected to the simplicity frame, cut out some of the unneeded areas for weight. Wheelbase set about the same as the original sears frame. Extra 633 in the background. Just a mock up. Hood and frame will be much lower. The rear fenders are a little narrow to fit the new width. | |

| Front hubs are 3/4" bearings. I finally got the front shocks in the mail too. They look pretty good. A little bigger than I expected them to be, which is good. With the wheels and everything where it is, the outside of the front tires is a couple inches narrower than the rears. Not sure if I will lengthen the front axle out to match them up or not. First priority is to get the rear figured out, then deal with the front end. | |

Here's the 4 lug heavy duty hub page on their site bmikarts heavy duty hubsHere is the one I bought. Then for 3/4" spindles, you order the high speed 3/4" bearings that fit into this hub. The cheap 5/8th ones you just knock out with a punch. Hub with 5/8" bearings - Rockinator wrote:
- Its looking really good! What are you going to do for rear fenders? Just cut those omes so he tires clear or weld some fender flares on it?
Thanks. I think I may try to use the simplicity fender if I can and either add steel flares or bolt on plastic ones. Cutting them over the tire would look neat.

- Those ag style tyres on the front look good. What's the input shaft size on that 633?
Thanks. Not sure about the shaft. It's a tapered shaft, maybe around 1/2". Rear section of sears frame torched off. Plating it to the simplicity frame. I'm not getting super high tech this time, just using whatever I have laying around. Some of the sears section of frame will probably get trimmed down for weight savings. The simplicity frame will end up hanging out over the front axle which gives more room for the winch, bumper, and whatever else. Most of the opening on this side will stay open for the belt. Decided to use the stock transmission pulley and run a jackshaft. Slightly behind schedule, but should have a roller by this coming weekend.

| Yeah, as soon as I get the back end hooked up, I'll start with the front axle. - 1997 Murray wrote:
- Lookin good. I am always amazed by your fab skills. And that input shaft is tapered from 1/2" to 5/8"over about 1", so you have to use your old pulley center and weld it to a new pulley if you want to go faster.
Thanks. I would cut the pulley down and weld to the hub, but these are cast iron pulleys this time, so I can't weld to them. The baja sears had a steel pulley for some reason. On that I just welded on a 4" pulley. I've got a plan this time with the jackshaft so I can bolt the engine closer to the center line of the frame. Also, the belt should be less prone to slipping in water. - redlinemotorsportts wrote:
- Probably wouldnt hurt to plate the rest of the frame connection too. maybe weld from the inside when it gets all stripped down.
I'm gonna full weld inside and outside. The rest of it will be plated in and with some gussets except for where the belt will be. Belt side might get an extra gusset or something to make up for it a little.

| even with the full weld and a couple gussets (though those will help a lot), I'd look at cutting and bending a few smaller pieces to lap over the initial butt joint and weld or bolt those to the plates.
or use some sort of beam that runs from a solid section of one frame to the other, drilled and bolted to each section of frame to support the welds.
pretty cool stuff regardless! definitely looking forward to following this.

| Thanks. My super gussets should be overkill. I'll get it beefed up pretty good. Can't have it snapping in half when hitting jumps. I may have some extra tubing or something going across anyway, but I don't know yet exactly what's going where. The skid plate may be somewhat of a structural member, or at least a help. | |

| The aluminum bore engine I'll start off with. Cleaned inside and out, governor removed and hole sealed, some edges smoothed out in the combustion chamber, polished rough edges off the rod, cut down the oil dipper a little, sanded the head flat, new head gasket, and painted. Still need to make intake manifold and put a pull start handle back on the rope. | |
