| Hi,
I have done a pulley swap to my Westwood but the belt keeps on falling off even when the belt is really tight and I have belt retainers on. It isn't twisted. It comes off the rear pulley and sometimes it falls off the front one too.
What is happening?

| your pulleys may be misaligned. I.E the rear pulley is mounted higher than the engine pulley or vise-versa. | |

| I had a lot of trouble with my simplicity. Maybe redesign the retainers some. Or add something under the edge of the belt to keep it from flopping around with the clutch in. Assuming vertical shaft setup of course. | |

| The engine pulley has quite a deep grove and only one belt retainer and it hardly ever comes off. The rear transmission pulley has quite a shallow grove and 2 belt retainers and it always comes off. It is a vertical setup.
How far out would the pulleys have to be to cause problems? | |

| Been researching and found out that a worn belt could cause it to come off. Would this be the case? | |

| Could be I guess. Belt probably a bit looser when worn and maybe stretched a bit. Then when you push the clutch in, flops around a lot more and jumps over the pulley. | |

| Yeah.
So I tried another belt that was the same size and it helped but didn't stay on forever.
But now the whole belt system is locked up, I dont know what is happening | |

| Found the problem. The "upper end" of the gear box has seized. The diff is still working. | |

| Not good to run with no lubricant. Bad things happen. Gears can get hot and melt together, bushings cans seize fast to shafts (especially steel bushings in cheaper trans axles), or bearings can seize. It's like trying to drive your car with no oil in the engine, like I said, bad things will happen. | |

| Oh good, no damaged bushings then. Where was the nut? Between the belt and pulley?

| Jammed between the spokes of the pulley and the supporting fins of the input shaft. Really not sure how it got there | |
