Upnorthkid "Rat-rod ATV tractor"

This is my 2015 Build off entry.
I am 14 years old and dreamed this idea up while riding in the back of our family van while going on a long road trip….as soon as I got back I started putting parts together and it consists of snowmobile, go-kart, antique lawn tractor frame and ATV parts. The motor I plan to use is from a compactor that got trashed when it fell out of someone's pickup while going down the road. It is a 5.5 HP Honda OHV that I am rebuilding.
I have a long way to go, as I just started this project this past week from nothing but parts and raw materials (welding supplies). I envision this to be fast and low ATV tractor. Going retro with the paint and the parts, using all old materials. For example, the hood is off of a 707 Simplicity (60s or early 70s?) mower, a 78 Yamaha Enticer snowmobile that was in our woods will supply the steering parts and some structural parts. The frame is from a very old lawnmower tractor (50s) with a Larson engine that I removed. I have to install a rear axle, front axle, make a steering assembly, make a brake and throttle system, fabricate and weld nerf bars to the frame, engine mount and a drive system needs to be engineered. I plan to use 8 inch rims with 16X6.50 tires off of and Ariens lawnmower and 15X6.50 on 6 inch rims in the front both with 4 on 4 bolt pattern. These are off of a Sears LT10.

I am getting a late start on this, but I plan to make good time on this project now that I have a solid plan.

  GOT A BOX TODAY!!!!! Got a box from BMI Karts today. I got a 32" x 1", 4 on 4 bolt hub and 1" axle hanger. I also worked on the hood re-enforcement. Give me your input! Thanks! UPNORTHKID

That's a fantastic looking mower you have there. I'm jealous! Here in the UK it would seem that anything much older than the 1990s has rusted into oblivion! I'd love to find something really old 50-60s. The oldest one I have is probably 80s.

GOT MORE PARTS!!!!!  I got front rims and hubs, spindles and spindle brackets with a shock spring, and a couple of odds and ends. i will try to get a video up soon. Thanks,        upnorthkid 

Sorry I haven't given any updates. Have gotten a lot done in the past month. I have started to wire tail lights from a old yamaha snowmobile (the same one that I got the steering parts and handlebars from). I also got the radio and speakers wired in and it works GREAT!!!!!! I'm using a Jeep radio because of its durability and the fact that it is dust proof (so the manual tells me).   Just ordered some bulk metal for the floor boards. The boards will be custom made by me and then inlayed with diamond plate aluminum.  Side note - I will be installing a BIG rig air horn by Wolo.  Thanks and stay posted! upnorthkid

MORE PARTS!!!! got held up for a wile but now I'm in full swing. got the big rig horn in and started to do some more welding in the frame. welded the ram bare brackets and in stalled the front axil and spindle brackets. today i will be welding the bracket for the LED Kawall work lights/ low beam lights and work on the floor boards. i will try to keep up on the updates thanks upnorthkid

WOW, just finished a hard day of work on the rat rod.  Today I finished the left floor board, wired the low beam light in, finished the wiring of the big rig horn and IT IS SOOO LOUD!!!! Scared me half to death wiring it! Next to do is weld some foot rests on the floor boards and make some chopped looking fenders on the back. Thanks, upnorthkid

You keep saying that you are going to post pictures but you never do.. and according to the contest rules

Any project NOT completed upon the official finish announcement on that date does not qualify for judging/winning.
